The entertainment industry is one of the most advancing industries today and the movie

sector is one of the dominant elements that contribute to its remarkable growth. The need to

produce, watch, and market movies keep on growing each day hence the justification that it will

continue being a key factor to the success of the industry. With different types of movies coming

up each day, it is evident that people have different preferences as well; therefore, there is no

single type that is unanimous to all. However, while there is no precise definition in regard to

what a good movie appears, there are particular elements that contribute to a good movie; they

include the storyline, directing, and effects.

In the first scenario, the storyline which in other words is the film script involves what

the movie is all about. By and large, it also includes other aspects such as plot development,

theme, and character (Metz, 2017). In this regard, the title of the movie should reflect in the

content. In addition and in concurrence with Mentel (2015), the characters should have attributes

that enhances the theme. For instance, if its comedy, they should be funny and thrilling enough

to enhance its development. Also, if it is in the case of a horror, they should have similar

character traits which must develop the content as per the movie’s title.

Another important element is directing. In most cases, movies with good titles end up

being hogwash; they do not click in the market which ends up frustrating the producers. As a

result, the choice of the ones involved in the directing should be topnotch, well-informed, and

creative. Directing comes along with wise choice of a setting which helps trigger the feelings and

expectations as situations vary (Mentel, 2015). For instance, the choice of bridge music, theme

colors, and situational effects such as the number of people in a situation matters a lot. For

instance, if it’s in a rescue mission, it is imperative for the ones playing the starring role to be

bold enough as the setting requires.

Apart from an intriguing storyline and directing, another important factor is the effects. In

this case, the important elements to examine include the sound patterns and the visuals. In most

situations, the producers succeed in employing the two important factors. Altogether, they give a

movie the audiovisual effects that are vital to make it thrilling and convincing to the eye (Renee,

2016). For instance, many movies come in parts or seasons. If the first part doesn’t hit the

market, it becomes difficult for the successive sets to succeed. In this regard, it is important to

ensure that the audiovisual effects meet the movie’s objectives.

In summation, just as it applies in other areas that call for mass attention, everything that

one produces must meet certain expectations. The movie sector as part of the entertainment

industry is highly demanding since the competition is also high. As evident in the above

discussion, movies should meet particular elements to ensure that they meet the market’s

demands. One of the principal factors is the storyline which comes along with an intriguing plot

development. Also, the directing is crucial too. The third element is to critically consider is

audiovisual elements. Altogether, they undoubtedly define a good movie.
