COLOR PRIMING AND FOREWARNING
Part One
1. What is the hypothesis for study one?
Null Hypothesis- The participants who use red ink are less likely to decipher more words I the
anagram performance than those who use black and green ink.
Alternative Hypothesis -Participants who used the black and green ink correctly unscrambled
more words than those who used red ink.
2. What is the independent variable(s) for study one?
The independent variable was the use of different colors that is known as color manipulation
there was only one independent variable that was used in two levels
3. What is the dependent variable(s) for study one?
The dependent variable in the study as to identify the number of correct anagrams that the
participants could come up with. Additionally, to determine if the existence of the colors affected
how the participants unscrambled the words correctly using the inks
4. What did they find in study one?
The usage of color was very instrumental in the determination of the exact words. Additionally,
the participants in their opinion though that the ink color did not affect them.
5. What is the hypothesis for study two
Null Hypothesis-participants who were given the red conditioning did not provide more answers
in comparison to those who were given the black conditioning.
Alternative Hypothesis -The number of participants who used the forewarning and the no
forewarning produced similar correct results.
6. What is the independent variable(s) for study two?
Two independent variables are the use of color manipulation and Forewarning conditioning. It
was used on two levels.
7. What is the dependent variable(s) for study two?
Two primary dependent variables are how the aspect of being forewarned affected the
performance of the participants.
Second the number of anagrams that were done correctly.
8. What did they find in study two?
That forewarning was not quite helpful in determining the number of anagrams that the
participants solved.
