Advantages and disadvantages of giving international aid to poor countries
Western countries are superior regarding their economy and the availability of resources.
That places them in the limelight and tasked to provide aid to developing countries. Ideally, most
of these developing nations are not necessarily poor but lack the best leadership as well as the
expertise to transform their natural resources into wealth. Therefore, western countries come into
place to offer some sense of direction through various international aids. Providing aid has
advantages and disadvantages as presented in the short essay.
To start with, giving aid to developing countries considerably boost their economic
status. That makes it possible to improve their capita income. Markedly, most developing
countries present a low mortality rate due to inadequate health facilities (Rose-Ackerman &
Palifka, 2016). The ability of developed nations to offer aid will significantly improve the health
of most individuals. Ideally, countries must co-exist since anything might be in the Soup at any
given instance. Developing nations can cheap in and help in such cases. A vivid illustration can
be an encounter with war that requires support from all sides.
On the contrary, offering aid presents some negative impacts. As outlined earlier,
developing countries lack better leadership as well as expertise (Bigsten & Tengstam, 2015).
These aspects make them lag behind in most instances. It is evident that these countries fail to
exploit their resources and merely lazy around hoping to get support from developed countries.
In conclusion, helping developing countries is necessary since they are not in a position
to do it by themselves. However, advanced countries should present restrictions as well as

thresholds to be met before offering aid. That will make such nations accountable and in turn,
lead to their success.
