American Dream
American dream is what every American citizen hopes to achieve. In everyday activity,
the residents are ever trying to make both ends meet. It is the dream of everyone to live a
dignified life (Ryan et al, 1999). Possess that dream cruising machine that one will be very happy
to ride on. Have that dream mansion with every item that is of high quality, have recognition in
the society such that the individual has earned respect in the community and society the
individual comes from (Obama, 2016). Yes, to own the biggest share in the best growing firm
that has promising returns or in other cases own a personal business making the individual be
his/her own boss. American dream is what drives American Citizen. It acts as the pacesetter. A
driving force towards hard work. It is the reason behind ones urge to participate in a revenue
generating activity. The government is concerned in achieving this dream. It does this by
encouraging its citizens to work hard towards the realization of their admirable dream.
Formulating policies that provide a conducive environment for the dream to be achieved is what
the government is trying to achieve. This can be seen to have been achieved to some extend
based on the fact that America do have a regulated government where there are less restrictions

presented. The laws made tend to encourage individuals to have total control over their life and
the operations they get engaged in. When individuals are given the chance to develop themselves
without any kind of limitation from the government, there is a high likelihood of achieving that
dream life that each American citizen hopes to have. The conducive environment is achieved by
the government’s activity to have less regulations. The government tend to levy less tax on its
citizens. This can be seen to act as subsidy that encourage many to work hard. Individuals are
always willing to work hard when there is an encouragement. A strong drive makes them to
anticipate to achieve more (Putnam, 2016)
Although it is the dream of every American citizen to life a good life, many find
themselves still living pathetic life. One can only stretch to her/his limit beyond which nothing
else can be done. Those who fall victims of this argument have to bear with the situation because
they have no control over it. However, hell is not yet broken for them. There is still shreds of
hope for them to live that good and dream life they wish to have. They can be made possible by
the fact that there are some organizations that provide aid to the less fortunate in order to make
them have upward mobility in terms of achieving a good life. The less fortunate are provided
with basic needs such as clothing, shelter and food. Moreover, the government can alleviate the
incidences of poverty levels through subsidized housing whereby the government pays the
largest portion of the rent as a cost. There are other circumstances where the government provide
full education sponsorship to kids coming from families which are stricken by poverty. This will
surface the situation to a bigger extend. The American constitution have provisions that are
geared to providing a fair play ground to every citizen. This is seen in the clause in the
constitution where there is a vow to hold the truths to be self-reliant by the virtue that all men
were created by God. Every person should be treated equally without discrimination. The clause

also proposes that every individual has certain rights, among them being a dignified life, having
the necessary liberty and the right to have a happy life always. Anything that can hinder the
mentioned concerns from happening should be avoided at all costs.
The American dream also needs a healthy political environment whereby the citizens are
free to join the party they wish to belong without restriction. This will cultivate the culture of
oneness, patriotism and zeal to achieve the set goals. Economic freedom is a key requirement
also. Individuals should have full private property ownership right. US government have very
little control over individual’s businesses. The full ownership of businesses granted to citizens
make them to work hard, be optimistic and enthusiastic in attaining dignified life. Production is
always at the peak when there is reduced government control. This usually translates to a well
promising economy where every American citizen benefits (Obama, 2016).
American dream makes citizen to have the freedom in while making both small and large
decisions. These decisions are prone to affect ones’ life and once made in presence of heavy
influence of government, the individuals are likely to make the wrong decision but once left to
make the decisions on their own, one can be sure of a good outcome. The freedom to accumulate
wealth makes every citizen to anticipate for more wealth. The fact that there is freedom of every
one to live according to his/her own values even if the values are not widely recognized or
accepted makes them to have the zeal and zest to do well in terms of performance towards
achieving their laid goals.
American dream is the belief that each individual, regardless of the class the family have
in the society, the origin of the individual can achieve their own success in the society they live
in. There are equal chances presented to everyone to achieve in which case upward mobility is
encouraged. This dream is usually achieved through sheer hard work, sacrifice and taking

calculative risks. Both the natives and immigrants are presented with the opportunity of
achieving this dream. The American government allows individuals to self-actualize themselves
whereby they are in a position to go beyond meeting their dire basic needs to fully achieve self-
fulfillment and reliance. This is opposite of what dictatorships governments present. The
environment for dictatorship is usually not promising and cannot provide a healthy environment
for self-actualization.it is the total hope for every individual to live a dignified life, a better life,
richer life and enjoy to the fullest. This should be the case regardless of the individual’s social
class or the birth circumstance.
