The purpose of reading a book is to capture the message that is written there and to
what purpose it was written. In other words, it is the reason why the writer wants you to read
it. Therefore, one has to understand the different styles of reading an article. Emotional,
captivating texts will change the ways you learned through the message it can be a sad or a
happy version. Some of these texts that will change how you read through a message include
“The key to development is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into your
awareness.” This is a good example of an awareness text that captures readers’ thoughts that
are unaware of their engagement on a daily basis. Many texts used in articles will always
touch on matters of life; an example is “above all you should be the heroine of your life and
not the victim.” Many of such texts are designed mainly to capture the attention of the reader
who comes across different types of a book each with a unique subject matter. There are
platforms for discussions where readers can talk through the various types of text and come
to a good understanding of the four main motives why books are written.
The problem that arises while reading is that when you start to read through the
introduction of a book, you get stuck in the writer used complicated words and phrases due to
which you will be required to use a dictionary, and at then you start losing interest. It is
sometimes difficult for you to understand and remember what you read. Therefore, essential
skills and methods have to be employed that will assist you to become better at reading
challenging materials. Techniques that may cause strains when reading a text include the use
of sophisticated vocabulary words from the introduction part, poor comprehension, low speed
in text processing, issues with decoding unfamiliar terms, poor referencing technique.
Excellent reading skills will improve your overall English language skills. After
spending many years in school, we think that we are proficient in reading, which is not true.
Therefore, we need to look on some best ways we can use reading to improve reading skills;
first, choose books that you like and read as many books as possible on your favorite topics
that you want most. Secondly, check your comprehension, you can write down the main idea
from each paragraph, thirdly, read at the right speed, this will maximize your comprehension
depending on your preferred speed. Finally, you need to engage and interact with your text,
ask yourself questions on what you are reading. These techniques will change your attitude
towards reading and gain more interest while learning; this will make you become a better
efficient reader and also have much fin reading as well.
In school, it is tough to read something that is not interesting only because it is a
required course that doesn't even teach you anything tutors will make you read for the sake of
just getting you to do something. Therefore we need to identify one area where you can skim
through reading materials for active reading. You can look at the words and ignore the
sentences. You can also read the firsts and the last paragraph. Skimming through a reading
material keeps you aware and informed of the topic you are reading, this will help improve
reading ability and also increase speed in main understanding information. This technique
will help you decide if the text is substantial and whether you should read in more details.
“I had a German shepherd, and he watched over my family for nine long years. He
protected me. He loved me, and I loved that dog. Unfortunately, he was hit by a car three
months ago, and we lost him. We don't know who hit him because they didn't stop. I wish
they had so I could look them in the eye and make them realize they killed my brother. They
must be heartless not to have stopped after hitting him. I miss my brother very much, and so
do my other dogs. Rest in peace Chiesa I love and miss you”.
The central outlook of the above visual text describes a situation that happened to a
dog named Chiesa. The background story shows an evident life experience on how it was
treasured and the way it took care of the family. Finally, the end is much disturbing,
acknowledging that the dog lost his life in a tragedy. The lack of color in the visual text
affects the visual in some ways. First, it becomes hard to picture the story clearly and
secondly, lack of color delivers an unappealing impression to the story.
The target audience for this visual text is in the category of the pet lovers. Therefore,
in this visible text being as sad as it is, a horrific sorrowful tone is developed in the mind of
the reader as he finds this story to be of more remorse than joy. This is because the message
that is being conveyed in words is about sad ending of a pet’s life.
