The American Society of Anesthesia Technologist/ Technicians also known as ASATT

is an educational body whose primary function is to certify the technologists and technicians

in all the fields of anesthesia. ASATT ensures that the standards required for anesthesia

technologists and technicians are met and that patients are given services of the best quality.

The anesthesia technologist usually serves under the anesthesia physicians and forms an

important component of the anesthesia members.

ASATT, therefore, sets the standards in the department of anesthesia which are aimed

skilled anesthesia technologist and whether or not I will be authorized to offer services to

anesthesia patients.

ASATT will also ensure that I am competent in my profession and will provide room

for professional growth since it has always set standards for the accreditation of the institutions

offering anesthesia courses. The ASATT certification will enable me to provide services as a

qualified and recognized anesthesia technologist. Additionally, the certification will allow me

to further my studies in the field of anesthesia. Moreover, ASATT certification will enable me

to make better decisions and change the overall attitude in the area of anesthesia technologist.

Typically, this is a profession which requires a lot of care and skills to ensure safety and that

the patients are satisfied with the medical procedures. Again ASSAT determines the

requirements of certification and re-certification of a technologist or technician in the field of

anesthesia. Certification and recertification are important in the profession since it will ensure

that the person is authorized to offers services to patients and will, therefore, have a lot of

impacts on my career.

ASATT provides the standards for the certification and recertification of anesthesia

technologists and technicians. For one to be certified as an anesthesia technician must sit for a

certification exam from an accredited institution. Additionally, the candidate must have

proficient communication skills, be computer literate and have a high school diploma or GED.

Again to be re-certified to be a technologist, one must have finished a 2-year course which is

approved by ASATT or must have been serving as an anesthesia technician for two years. A

technologist exam is the basis of recertification which requires the candidate to have sat for an

ASATT accredited educational program.

ASATT is a commonly known non-profit organization in the world which is committed

to the approval of anesthesia technologists and technicians. ASATT also provides a list of the

educational institutions it accredits to offer the anesthesia program. The organisation, therefore,

has a lot of impacts to any students pursuing the course. Certification as a technologist requires

one to have completed 2 years approved program by ASATT or have worked for two years as

a technician. Generally, ASATT’s certification is important since it helps recognize one as

either a certified anesthesia technologist or technician.
