Analyzing Unethical
Introduction
Police officers are one of the adored law enforcement professionals who is expected to
lead by example by upholding the high level of moral integrity and ethical code of conduct.
The case study brings up the opposite of the expected where police officers under the
KCKCPD are charged with misconduct in a court of law. BELL, FORREST, and SILLINGS
are police officers mandated to execute the Constitution of the United States by ensuring
order, peace, and calm in Kansas resident. The three are, however, found suspects of
misconduct and unethical behaviors and are charged. The three are charged with various
issues of misconduct that will be discussed below (Braga, Anthony & David 633-640).
Under count one of the case study, the three are charged with mistreating, undermining,
injuring, threatening and oppression of innocent people. These behaviors are unethical and
uncondensed according to the Constitution. It is the duty of police officers to enforce the law
by conducting their duties in the manner that will ensure comfort and safety of all the
citizens. It is unethical to oppress, injure and undermine innocent people whose rights are
protected are safeguarded in the Constitution. The use of police power and mandate to
oppress, abuse, injure people in any manner is unethical and abuse of office (Braga, Anthony
& David 640-650)
Another unethical behavior is the stealing of private property during searches. This is
again abuse of power. Police officers need to portray utmost faith and trust to the citizens by

upholding honesty and integrity. Stealing and seizing people’s property is unethical and
against the Constitution.
The three are accused of conspiring to steal cash, video games, and other valuables while
conducting search warrants. The duty of a police officer in any nation must always be
governed by trust and honesty and more important transparency. A police officer stealing
from the public becomes a crime of the highest order whose remedy should not be carried out
lightly. They are mandated to protect crime and yet themselves commit that crime that
becomes unethical in respect to the police code of conduct (Klein 87-90).
They are also charged with corruption, converting government property ownership to
themselves. For instance, SILLINGS is said to have stolen $ 340 belonging to the Federal
Bureau of Investigation. BELL and FORREST are also charged to have converted cash, and
other property belonging to the government of the United States to their own use. This is
clean smuggling and misappropriation of government property. It is a behavior that does not
allow one to be given a second chance to hold office after the trial. The penalties laid on the
three by the court is fair according to the Constitution. Conspiracy against rights, deprivation
of rights and theft of government property. The decision arrived at by the court of law to
imprison the three alongside heavy fines is right (Cihan, Yan & Larry 310-15).
Conclusion
From the case study, a number of unethical behaviors have been portrayed by police
officers. Police officers are trained professionals that are expected to change and transform
the society by impacting good moral values and principles, however, when this does not
happen, their moral integrity becomes questionable. A police officer charged with theft of
public, private and government property is far worse than normal cases. Police officers need
to take their mandated roles seriously and more importantly be good role models and portray
a good image to the people.
