Mainstream.
The study explains the lives of second-generation Latinos born in U.S and their views of
achieving traditional assimilation in the United States. It is also well known that data collected
on economics, social and cultural and civic participation patterns among Hispanic identify the
fundamental steps that are being achieved among the Latinos and their off springs.
Acculturalization is the most significant challenge for Latino-Americans as they move from
adolescent stage to young adults. The second generations Latinos are young group and the
studies that project a stagnant or downward path of incorporation are premature. They also create
a stigma that negatively labels Latinos, who are a large part of Americas future. It is so
unfortunate to torture such young age generation by being subjected to severe psychological
suffering. The text is relevant to the study since it highlights the challenges that the Latino
immigrants undergo.

It is well known that political conflict contributes a lot to refugee creation. The forced
migration and cultural transitions that people are subjected to require a long period of time for
any human being to settle and adapt to the new changes. There is great impending danger when a
person does not get prompt assistance from senior counsellors or a therapist. The matter can get
out of control and subject a person to severe psychological problem which may lead to madness.

The immigrants find it hard to adapt to the new climatic, social and cultural changes that they
meet. The text is relevant in that it tries to make the reader understand the relationship between
refugees, immigrants and the psychological challenges that might face them.

The text introduces us to racial issues that can be recognized with practical, clinical
setting by looking at the settings that can influence practices. Working inter-culturally involves
counselling, training and supervision. To have a better and wide knowledge of it, the text reveals
to us clearly that racial issues has an adverse effect on the immigrants. It deprives the persons the
ability to engage with natives freely. The outcome result is psychological depression. Setting up
counselling services in the culturally diverse communities can be of great help in solving the
challenge. It is important to understand that together with contribution of diverse cultural
heritage, there is always adoption of a world view of events/things.

The text provides a wide and elaborate historic and demographic overview of American
Indians. It also explores a vast knowledge on the practices of the American Indians. The things
captured in the text include; arts, music, literature, food, spirituality and family. It is common for
immigrants to counter the challenge of language barrier. These unfavorable factors may lead to
psychological problems. It is also important to note that that the Indian American Persons

The text is relevant to the topic since it provides aid to transcultural therapists in
conducting their work in a sensitive and informed manner. It offers a very powerful challenge for
its ability to show commitment to honor uniqueness and sensitivity of cultural, racial, spiritual
and ethnic differences that are exhibited by clients in a multicultural society. The text is
important to any immigrant since it covers areas such as implications of identity development for
therapeutic work ethnic matching of clients and the therapists working with interpreters and bi-
cultural workers in order to overcome racism, discrimination and oppression within the
counselling process.

The text is relevant to the topic in that it elaborates on the dilemma inherent within
therapeutic ideologies commonly subscribed to by psychotherapists and counsellors.
Additionally the text also introduces us to a new approach to counselling and psychotherapy that
will not only appeal to sociologists and those working in the field of mental health but also to
scholars of race, ethnicity and gender.

It is with great importance to note that the Canadians usually have many approaches to
couple and family therapy. The Canadians have a strong traditional couple and family therapy
which can be dated back to Nathan Epstein who were the founder family. The methods for

therapists include cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, narrative therapy and
emotional-focused therapy. It is important to understand the context in which the immigrants can
as well provide solutions to challenges that they may encounter concerning the new cultural
practices.

The text provides us with insight on counselling interactions especially when there is a
change of environment . Counselling is a process that needs to be practiced more often. The text

therefore important to note that people tend to behave differently when in a new environment. It
is the mandate of psychologists to assist those facing new environmental challenges.

effect on late life. It deters members to freely socialize and hence making it hard for the
immigrants to understand each other.
