choose their partners, they, like any other humans, are entitled to make a choice. As individuals
continue opposing homosexuality, they are outright showcasing their immorality. Opposers of
homosexuality are practicing discrimination and encouraging homophobia. The opposers to the
practice are creating a homophobic environment for the homosexuals. Homophobia is a product
of prejudice which escalates to heightened panic. According to Rachmilovitz (2017),
homophobia influences death rates. In comparison to their counterparts who live in supportive
areas, the life expectancy of homosexuals living in homophobic environment is shorter.
Encouraging homophobic environments increases the presence of crimes against homosexuals
where they get beaten or sometimes killed. Some other effects of homophobia are mental illness,
suicide, and substance abuse.
Homosexuality can be a genetically inherited factor. Science has it that some children are
naturally born with the trait (Kenny & Patel, 2017). As such, homosexuals like every other
human are natural. From a religious perspective, God requires the human population to respect
his creation. In several instances, homophobic attitudes are practiced in places like the churches,
making the action unethical. Since the churches the belief that homosexuality is a sin, they are
supposed to welcome sinners rather than put them off. By advocating for the homophobic
attitudes, the churches are hypocritical to the Golden rule of God which requires the human race
to love one another. It is not possible to state that loving one another sin, most especially because
it is a religious rule. Also, the rule does not specify the individual to love.
The several views of homosexuality prove that it will continue being a hot topic, and the
differences will prevail. Homosexuality harms no individual. Like any other identity,
homosexuality will continue existing, especially since it is having been proven to be a genetic
