A regression model helps in determining the existence of a relationship between a dependent and

an independent variable which must be interval variables that follow a normal distribution. The

objective is to make a prediction of writing scores from reading scores with the data retrieved from

online.

Is there a relationship between reading scores and writing scores?

Sample size

A random sample of 25 reading scores and 25 writing scores was selected from the high school

and beyond data.

Predictor and outcome variables

Reading scores was independent variable while writing scores was the dependent variable.

explain 11% of variation in writing scores.

Y (writing score) = 45.74815807 + 0.098961822 * read

A single increase in reading score causes the writing score to increase by 0.098961822.For a

student who gets a reading score of 50, the predicted score for writing is

Y (writing score) = 45.74815807 + 0.098961822 * 50

=50.69624917

The association between the reading and writing score can be graphically represented by the chart
