The controversy on whether marijuana should be legalized has been of great interest
recently. The issue has been raised in almost every corner of the world. Different members,
organization, and health sectors have given their different and various views on the topic. Some
strongly believe that it should be made legal claiming that it has several healing benefits while
others are against the notion. The truth of the matter is still not known well. People just argue
about this issue and those who win the argument carry the day. Time and again, claims that
marijuana can be used as a medicinal drug have also been raised. Several lab experts have
worked tirelessly trying to establish the truth of the matter. Some have clues that the drug itself
has healing effects but the major problem and concern is how one can isolate it so that it can
only bring only the healing effects without the enormous side effects. In the UK, the motion is
highly discussed. Residents want it to be passed in the parliament so that it is made legal,
meaning no one will be prosecuted if found under its influence (Sarah, 2016).
Medical experts have carried out lab tests and have realized that marijuana contains
cannabinoids which are of two types namely CBD and THC. THC make users have increased
appetite hence consuming a lot. Moreover, it helps in reduced nausea, relieved pains and can
also help in preventing inflammation and control muscle complications. TCH is the component
that makes people ‘high’. On the other hand, CBD can be very useful in controlling seizures
and can aid in treating mental disorders (Aggarwal 2007, p.52).
Besides the vital benefits of marijuana, the side effects are sound and cannot be ignored
at any point. For instance, TCH which is a major component of the drug affects how the user’s
body function. It makes one ‘high’ and can do whatever thing comes in his/her mind. It takes
full control of all organs of the body such that one cannot think and act rationally. The mode
in which it gets to the body is not of great interest, whichever way it finds its way to the body
it causes hazardous effects. It can lead to high blood pressure, affect the immune system,
together with the central nervous system. Research has shown that most of the marijuana
