Artificial Intelligence and Human Evolution
In pursuit of the perception of society towards artificial intelligence, it becomes apparent
that differing opinions suffice. The arguments for and against adoption and development of
artificial intelligence is evidence of an evolution at a crossroad, with a part of the species
regarding artificial intelligence as the next level of evolution and the other regarding it as the
culmination of the species. The survivability of humans has always been dependent on the ability
of the human species to invent and innovate ways to improve the quality of life and prolong the
life expectancy (Kyriakidou 192). Over the decades, different stages of inventions have
continually improved the lives of individuals and helped in achieving higher levels of
sustainability and productivity. From the early ages where innovations of philosophical and
political ideologies meant the absence of wars and prolonged life, inventions in medicine,
industrialization, and advancement of society further increased the quality of life of human
beings (Saariluoma, et al., 7). This paper argues for the significance of artificial intelligence in
promoting the argument that artificial intelligence is not a threat to humanity but rather an
industrial revolution representing the next phase of human evolution.
The nature of human evolution is bound to the ability of human beings to develop tools to
allow them to increase their efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability. Artificial intelligence is
a tool for the improvement of production efficiency and sustainability (Saariluoma, et al., 12).
The industrial revolution is a series of developments in the way production and manufacturing

processes are undertaken. The objective of the innovations is often to increase the volumes of
production and to reduce waste. Through artificial intelligence, humans are able to achieve the
levels of production required to achieve developmental goals and objectives. The ability of
artificially intelligent robots and mechanisms to perform the tasks that humans perform in less
time and with less wastage presents an opportunity to achieve the sustainability levels required
(Kyriakidou 196). Sustainability would promote environmental conservation and result in a
healthier life for the human race. This would in turn further prolong the life cycle of the
population. On this basis, it is evident that artificial intelligence is an industrial revolution that
would save humanity from the growing environmental catastrophes.
In addition to the improved productivity levels in terms of efficiency sustainability,
artificial intelligence is improving the decision-making system resulting in better policy
development (Kwakkel, et al., 373-375). Policies are set of rules and regulations that dictate the
means through which members of the society interact. In advancing the decision-making system
governing human interaction, the possibility of higher effectiveness in social interactions
becomes achievable. Current complexity in political relationships both within the borders and in
international landscapes point to a need for higher levels of information processing to decode the
social factors controlling social interactions (383). Artificial intelligence, with higher processing
capabilities, would help in producing better decisions regarding social relations and interactions
resulting in higher international collaboration and integration. In this way, artificial intelligence
is the means through which the human species shall achieve the next step in social evolution.
CONCLUSION
The purpose of this paper was to argue for the point of view that; artificial intelligence is the next
step towards human evolution and not a threat to humans. The significance of artificial

intelligence to human evolution forms the focus of the discussion. This study identified the role
of artificial intelligence in allowing greater efficiency and sustainability in production, and
higher effectiveness of social decision making as the key determinants of the contribution of the
innovation to human evolution. Based on these inferences and the assumptions derived from
literary research it is evident that artificial intelligence is not a threat but rather the next phase in
the human evolutionary journey.
