The book Kat and Meg conquer the world is a novel by Anna Priemaza that talks about
overcoming ones fears and realizing friendship even when one doesn’t feel comfortable or at
peace with own self. The two girls are both in grade ten in Alberta. The two girls, Kat and Meg
form the cornerstone of the story of the book. Kat is new at Alberta and nervousness and
uneaseness is what is all in her brain worried about how life will be in this new place. All she can
afford to is to cry and hide in the library over the lunch hour in order to ensure she’s all alone
and also be able to play Legends of Stone (Priemaza, 2017, Pg.217). As a result, this book is
very essential and recommendable for those people who feel uncomfortable with their lives. It
provides an avenue for the readers to reflect on their daily activities. However, the fact that being
alone and online amounts to happiness is quite ambiguous since the best approach to solve
personal issues is by sharing them with friends.
In the contrary, Meg is an extrovert with ADHD and jounces easily into people leaving
her friendless. Meg doesn’t like studies and, therefore, she does not do well in class, instead, she
likes watching Lumber Legs play and skating (Priemaza, 2017, Pg.217). It comes a time when
the two pair up for a science project which enables them to build on their weaknesses and

appreciate their friendship. This project makes them hang around each other. The difference in
their personalities doesn’t make their friendship an easy one. Finally, they manage to talk about
their challenges when Kat talks about a counselor who did not help her and from then they open
up themselves to each other. Therefore, this book is worthy reading by those individuals who
find life quite hard to cope with but are willing to restart a new significant life.
This book has all a reader can wish to find in a book. For instance, writing in first person
narrations, Priemaza arrests the adherent voices: Kats counting voices (“seven crowds……..eight
socialization) (Priemaza, 2017, Pg.208). The level of humor among other styles can’t go
unnoticed. Reading this book makes one cry and laugh at various scenes. The mood and the
setting of the book is well illustrated hence highly recommend everyone to try and read it out.
