Buddhism Reflection Essay
§ 3
In the third section we are told that birth is an independent aspect and it does not depend on
death for its existence. Birth has its own period that is stipulated for every human being
respectively, birth also has the past and the future. This means that we can take to account
whatever happens during birth and we can also keep record of what happens after birth. This
makes birth an independent aspect and it proves to us that it does not depend on death for it to
operate it facilitates its occurrences in its own peculiar way. The same applies to death, death
also has a past and future that means whatever happens during and after death can also kept be
for future reference in case any individual wants to learn one or two things about it. Just as birth,
death is also independent and therefore it does not depend on birth for it to be effective it has its
own ways of doing things. Accomplishment which is under the second noble truth has had its
way in this section and it’s seen via how the image of birth and death are described as
independent occurrences that lead to the actualization of mankind.
§ 4
Buddha’s life depends on birth and death. This means that for one to become a follower of
Buddha, he or she needs not to dislike death and at the same time should not desire it. Because
when you dislike birth and death then you have deprived Buddha the privilege to live and when
you desire birth and death then Buddha becomes just a being that has no significance in any way.
