Butterfly 7
Part Five
Jefe looked as if he had taken a cup of coffee or an energizer drink because he became
anxious as he continuously paced the street smelling the lawns and Liza did not know why. At
this point, Liza was a walking zombie because she did not understand what to do because her not
only was her daughter missing but her husband's phone was now unavailable. She did not know
what to do so she resorted to follow Jefe around as if he was the only solution to the current
problem. Jefe paced so many times, and once they came back to the family house after walking
up and down the street, Jefe seemed to direct his mind to a particular spot, and when Liza leaned
in, he found a mobile device that contained only one number in it. Once Liza dialed the figure, a
social services number picked up and inquired what help she wanted. Immediately her instincts
affirmed to her to examine if there was a girl named Mona because she had been missing since
the day before. Before long, Liza drove to the federal facility to find Mona playing with other
children with no care in the world. Once Liza and Jefe arrived she called out to Mona while
crying and Mona happily hugged her telling her that the men who took her told her that she was
mummy and daddy would bring her a horse and she waited here since the gift was very far away.
Macht’s kidnappers had hacked into the federal institution’s security feed to show evidence of
Mona’s safety, and when watching the reunion was bittersweet. For Macht, that is all that
mattered for now. As the plane took off, someone he did not expect approached him in his seat
and that shook Macht to his core. For Jefe, the evidence of love for Mona was evident in his wet
kisses, his paces, and barks. He is the epitome of human companionship, and it is as though he
was almost as sorry about the incident as Mona's parents. It seemed so long ago when that
happened, and Liza still expects Macht to walk through the front door but the detectives already
committed Macht as a cold case.
