Capitalism and Nature
The central theme of the discussion is about capitalism and the role it plays in sustaining
the society in its state. The relationship that exists between individuals and their employers is
more related to the environment of the workplace. In the historical view, the author claims that
the oil mining companies have grown and increased the value of the oil locally, as well as
globally. The benefit accrued to these operations will promote the mining resources and more so
the ground that produces.
Capitalism has contributed a lot to helping individuals to gain power and control over the
other countries. The oil has brought a transformation such that people who export have assumed
an international state of the market. They run the business from the global view. Moreover, the
oil-producing countries have come together to help promote the control over the prices and
distribution all over the world. Individuals have elevated capital over the politics as it has
become a subject of capitalism (Coronil 57).
The author uses Marxist theory to expound more on the role that capitalism plays in
defining socialism in the community. The influential people are those with money as they have
control over the others in the society. Moreover, they are always over the political regime that
runs the community. They have the power to treat the workers as a class subjected to exploitation

but has the interest for liberation at heart. However, the capitalists maximize at adding value
from the profit generated without the consideration of the resources (Coronil, 62).
The reading relates to the other as it explicitly shows how the history has shaped the
world to be the way it is today. Without the consideration of the resources, states cannot make
value and capital. Therefore, land, as well as labor, are equally crucial to the value generated as
they also participate in the transformation of the social realm. Capitalism is essential in the
running of the world, but nature is also a necessity in sustaining the status quo. Therefore, the
coexistence of the two is vital.
