Teaching Career in Higher Education

Teaching is an exhilarating experience that requires a passionate heart, a dedicated mind,

and a relentless individual. It is not, however, easy dealing with students who are sometimes not

ready to be engaged. Ultimately, teachers are the most strategically placed people in the universe.

Their roles are unique, enjoyable and worth celebrating as they teach presidents, lawyers, and even

doctors. Precisely, teachers are the pillars of the society. I will join education sector in the teaching

profession. In my profession, I will work with other teachers in games departments, music, and

even music departments to further my social skills, coherence and even improve on myself

physically and socially.

In the teaching career, I intend to teach literature as well as drama. These two are the perfect

combination for me as they are easy and practical. Since learning cannot be a fulltime thing, I

intend to join the school team in playing football and volleyball. I have a compelling passion for

furthering my prowess in volleyball pitch as well as challenge students in the football ground.

Teaching is enjoyable especially when engaging young and vigorous students. I, therefore, intend

to teach high school in one of the schools around the town. To qualify as a full-time teacher in

such an advanced high school, I will require a bachelor degree in literature from a recognized

university in the state. Also, I will also require having recommendations from three known people

and a good record of discipline and some previous academic and co-curricular achievements. A

neatly filled application letter with the attachment of all my documents will surely land me the

precious position to teach and impact positively on these students.

In this interesting career, there are certainly three interesting things worth a nod. Teachers

have the potential to transform lives. Alone, this aspect makes teachers the happiest people in their

career. Any teacher who has had the chance to help a student emotionally or academically can bear

witness. The high satisfaction or legacy a man can leave behind is helping someone achieve greater

heights, and nobody does this more than a teacher. They help students walk the paths that they

desire and even guide them in making some serious choices in life. For any person who feels the

desire and the inner urge to help someone break social, academic and emotional barriers in life,

teaching, perhaps, is the best career for them. The results of rigorous mentorship, guidance and

being handheld are the success, and higher achievements and these are all the roles that a teacher

performs on students.

Teaching boosts creativity levels of anyone in the career. Engaging students is not a walk

in the park, but a determined soul can always give results. Teachers are expected to be creative in

making students enjoy learning and even develop a positive attitude towards the subjects. In every

lesson, the teacher makes observations on the students’ behaviors and class participation in class.

Through these patterns, teachers can develop necessary mechanisms to handle all students

differently as they all require different attention and guidance. In setting exams, teachers enhance

their creativity by setting standard questions that require students to apply all the concepts taught

in class. From a different perspective, teachers have a perfect forum to try out different ideas while

observing their workability and effectiveness.

Lastly, teaching enables people to get better in matters related to professional development

continuously. Having the growth mindset is pivotal in the teaching field, and teachers are

encouraged to register continuous improvements from observing professions, listening and

engaging them in assignments. In this way, they can also ask for observation from the experts on

their tasks for continuous improvement in their performance and skills.

However, as I was researching on the teaching topic, I was surprised to learn two basic

things. No day is ever the same for teachers and teachers have the shortest working hours in a day.

Teaching is racked by variables that make the career worth. From student moods, activities and

the journey of students as they grow, the teacher experiences each day differently. Also, teachers

spend half of their days marking assignments, and they, therefore, have time to work from home.

In a day, teachers have at most four lessons where he engages students and then the rest of the day,

they spend engaging students at a personal level or marking assignments. They, therefore, have

free time than any other corporate job.

Personally, I think teaching is the only career that suits people who desire to impact on

others, being creative and even helping other people grow to achieve their goals. Teachers have

good salaries as their unions keep advocating for salary increments after every five years. The

career can boost the creativity of any person who delves deeper into it passionately as engaging

with students requires having and seeking solutions to everyday problems.

In conclusion, the topic of teaching cannot be undermined or despised. It is a great career

that ought to be celebrated as teachers are the guardians of the society and its people. They are the

moral pillars as well as the pioneers of people’s dreams. With all the benefits, wages and

advantages that a teacher gets, enrolling for this career in higher education is a prudent decision

that one can be advised to opt for.
