Engagement
When Angel was involved in an accident, there is a possibility that she might have suffered
a bipolar problem which has made her experience mood changes which affect her behavior in the
daily life (Langlois et al 2006). A brain injury can change the way people feel and how they can
express their emotions. This condition can create several types of emotional problems which can
be manifested in the person is engaged to different circumstances. For example in the case of
Angela, it is clearly seem when she is engaged in given to perform house chores, expressing
herself, decision making or subjected to thinking, when engaged in an argument and when engaged
in outdoor activities.
Assessment
When an assessment is doe on Angels life, it can be notices that then accident that she was
involved in might have caused a serious brain problem. This makes her to have mood changes and
her emotions change quite easily (Langlois et al 2006). Some of the possible reasons why she
behaves the way she does include; first that the part of the brain that controls emotions and
behavior might have been damaged or tempered with. The second possibility from the assessment
is that the body have sudden emotion response of which the cause of it has not yet been established.
This behavior makes the family het worried because the person seems to be upset suddenly and
yet nothing might have done anything to her (Langlois et al 2006). The third reason is that some
part of the brain damaged may cause sudden scenarios for crying or laughing. This explains the
reason why Angel get upset very fast and she does not want to take up duties at home. This as well
explains why she wants to be alone every time to the extent she wants to stop schooling.
CASE 3
Intervention
Such an incident is always unfortunate for the family and the person who is suffering from
the condition (Langlois et al 2006). However there is something that can be done to intervene for
the situation. First is that the healing for this condition takes time and what needs to be done is to
help the person stay in an environment that help in returning normal emotional balance and
expression. Secondly, the person can be taken to a psychologist who will help in treating the person
so as they will be able to control emotions (Langlois et al 2006). Thirdly, the family members can
be taken through counselling so that they can cope with the situation and help the affected person
recover faster. Lastly, the person can be taken through series of medication from a physician who
deals with emotional problems caused by brain injury.
Evaluation
Then patents and the physician should be keen always to evaluate the behavior of Angela
after a certain period. This will help in assessing whether she is improving or not (Langlois et al
2006). Since she will be subjected to various tests and conditions that will help her improve and
overcome her challenges. Since she will be taken to particular school, it will be easier to evaluate
the progress in her improvements. Some of the areas where she will be evaluated include her
reaction on outdoor activities, her interactions with others, her reaction to the instructions given
and her mood fluctuations when she gets angry (Langlois et al 2006).
Termination
After Angela is taken through the medication process, assessment will give the results of the steps
that needs to be taken. If the results will show a positive response to medication, she will then be
CASE 4
allowed to complete the medication and then the medication will be terminated (Langlois et al
2006). If the response is not positive, the she will then be allowed to continue under the same
medication for a while.
Follow up
The parents and the family members will ensure that hey closely watch the behavior of Angela so
that they will be able to assess the improvements with time. The family will help in remaining
calm, giving good environment, give the person some work to engage in (Langlois et al 2006),
allow them to express their feeling and provide her with opportunity to interact with others. This
will help in ensuring that the person gets healed quickly and that all the requirements recommended
by the physician is followed well.
