The child support program is being faced with challenges since it gives priority to
private support and ignores the public support. The program also provides a preference of
economic over the other arrangements; it also doesn’t bring out a clear difference between the
accountabilities of the non-custodial guardians who usually have unique connections with the
other parents. The recent child support program applies mostly to the divorcing families in
which the single parent has a moderate income. This program is not well applicable in the
low-earning families and more specifically the unmarried partners. The result is that only a
few children are usually beneficiaries of this program and the system does not encourage
accountability on the part of the parents(White et al., 65). There are, therefore, high needs for
some changes in the program to benefit a large number of needy children. The single-parent
families usually experience significant challenges when it comes to raising their children, but
the current policy is not focusing well on these economic difficulties. The strategies which
are concentrated on the custodial guardian's families oppose the critical issue of equalizing
the responsibility of public support and private support which emanates from the non-
custodial parents(Cancian et al., 50).
The attempt to make the non-custodial parents accountable for their children face a lot
of problems which are linked to the perceived need for inspiring financial aid and making the
non-custodial parents aware of the need to take care of their kids. The reactions of these
issues have varied for an extended period and more particularly to the divorced and
unmarried families, and the ones who get or don’t get public support(Cancian et al., 50).
The recent programs are mainly composed of general policies of the low-earning
families and more particular ones to the custodial guardians. The public and private support
systems should be taken as substitutes rather than a companion. The funds generated from the
public are partially or wholly retained by the state making the public support more less,
which makes the custodial guardians face a lot of problems raising their kids. By encouraging
