Capitalism is a fundamental aspect of the economy that culminates from the intense

accumulation of commodities that are meant to satisfy human wants. The economic platform has

seen immense critiquing and perceptual diversity emanating from the fundamental aspects of the

economy, such as capitalism. Max Weber is profoundly regarded as Marx’s intellectual critic.

However, despite the divergence in ideologies between the two thinkers, they tend to agree to a

specific degree on certain aspect underlying social changes in the society and the rise of the

capitalism. In this accord, this analytical essay seeks to establish the convergence and divergence

point of the ideologies and principles employed by the two thinkers. The bottom line is, this

essay strive to establish the similarity and differences between the ideas of the two thinkers

rather than establishing whose ideas are faulty and whose are justifiable.

Both thinkers perceived capitalism as being an endeavor that perpetuates abstraction NIL

the individual living is solitude as an individual’s desire to be saved. This perception towards the

the individual urge to be saved by external forces. On the other hand, Marx description of

regarding the aspect of society and capitalism, the two theorists tend to have more in the

convergence of ideologies and approaches than divergence. Both theorists assert that historical

circumstances, culture, and society are pivotal in the development of modern capitalism.

However, divergence in ideology emanates from the fact that Weber claims that social conditions

are pivotal in the development of modern capitalism, while, on the other hand, Marx perpetuates

the ideology that advocates for economic condition manifesting on the social and cultural

aspects. The bottom line is, despite the variation in ideas, both theories are anchored on firm
