TECHNOLOGICAL DISCOVERY IN THE HISTORY OF MAN 2
Technology has been man's best friend over the years. The technology keeps changing
thus making man's life even better. The basic idea behind technological discoveries pertains to
interconnecting people and making work easier. Thus, the benefits of technology in the life of a
human being are unfathomable. Various technologies have been developed in various fields to
simplify the way things are done and to interconnect people. This study considers the discovery
of computers as being the most important technological discovery in man’s history.
The computer plays a great role in the storage of data, fast processing, and retrieval of the
information (Mariappan & Parthasarathy, 2009). The computer receives data and processes it
into valuable information. A person can also rely on a computer to make an expert decision
regarding a challenging situation. The software systems are developed courtesy of the computer,
and they are essential in assisting a person in making reliable decisions. The knowledge base
expert system is an example of the computer software which provides artificial intelligence
(Khan, Rehman, & Amin, 2011). The large business corporations rely on such systems in making
their various decisions in the course of business. A computer can link up different departments
within an organization through systems like enterprise resource planning (ERP), or system
application and products (SAP), (Wang et al. 2017). It thus becomes possible for management to
monitor the operations of the entire organization from a central point.
Suffice to say, a computer is a powerful technological device which has revolutionized
the life of man. It assists in storing and processing information, making expert decisions, and
linking operations in an organization. Perhaps, life would have been difficult in the current world
without computer technology.
