Conflict is a form of discord or friction that arise within two or more people when
their actions and beliefs are resisted by the other individual. It arises especially between
members of a group, an intragroup conflict and might involve interpersonal discord conflict or
violence. Conflict can be solved or dealt with through collaboration, communication,
compromising, and accommodating. However, sometimes people opt to avoid and compete as a
way of dealing with issues. This paper is aimed as assessing my conflict resolution scores and
determining what it means.
According to the scores, I prefer collaborating as my primary means of dealing with
conflict and shun from avoidance, competition, and compromising. Proper resolution of the
conflict is an essential part of running the affairs of a business or maintaining positive relations
among employees and colleagues. Companies that lack an appropriate method of conflict
resolution degenerate into low morale, hostilities, and competing agendas. None of the above
elements represents a thriving business. Collaboration in the management of conflict is at times
referred to as the ultimate means of conflict management. The method presents the advantages
and drawbacks as well.
Collaboration among parties in conflict makes all the factions involved to feel valued and
appreciated. Critical consideration of the concerns parties in conflict present diffuses the
hostilities among the parties and presents an atmosphere of freedom of expression (David Archer
& Cameron, 2013). Many conflicts come about because the parties involved are not listening to
one another. Therefore, they often misunderstand their reasons for failure to give in. When both
factions in a dispute express the source of their concerns, it helps to create understanding mutual

respect and empathy (David Archer & Cameron, 2013). The method sets the tone for future
efforts to resolve the conflict by giving the people involved shared responsibility.
Overall, the initial setback for the method of collaboration is that it is time-consuming. It
takes plenty of energy and resolution to attain a particular decision. The mediator might have to
sit through various sessions for both the teams Because the ideal outcome is a win-win for both
the sides. Delays in negotiation may increase tension and resentment reducing the rate of
productivity at the workplace. One major setback is when there lacks a solution that satisfies
both parties.
