How Angry National Mood is Reflected in Pop Culture
Jeffrey Fleishman's issue on how an angry national mood is reflected in pop culture is one
of its kind and very significant to us and most importantly in our society. This is because, this
essay shows us how the pop culture that is; media, music, and fashion are interrelated to the
national mood, a thing which is supposed to be understood by each and every one of us. He says
"when the going gets tough, the tough gets angry and all this anger is concluded in entertainment."
That is the fact because for example, the movies and songs published by young people in the
society during dangerous times or political instability, show or depict dangerous activities in them,
other talks of war, while others preach peace. Fleishman's argument regarding anger and arts is so
strong for he gives arguments like "we get Batman Vs Superman…" a movie which shows our
battling amongst ourselves. This movie tries to interconnect anger and arts since the movie is the
art and it portrays anger in its acting the society. Jeffrey's arguments have provided enough and
supporting evidence to his claims in the essay. (Fleishman)
Fleishman provides five major claims to support that anger in The United States of America
is being caused by our Super Heroes in politics. His first claim is the Donald's Tramps Presidential
campaign which is the major aspect that triggered anger to many residents in the United States.
Here he argues that "Our Super Hero have forsaken us and our fictions pail against our headlines.
And the social media taunts…" in this quoting, he is trying to insinuate that the civil war between

Donald's Tramp and Sanders is the one that has taken the joy of many and led to the United States
being taunted in Pop Culture and even citizens feel to be in jail and never to take it again. During
this period, movies and songs were all about the civil war. For instance, most Hollywood Films
which are not identified with political outrage have expressed anger in the acting recently trying
to criticize the Super Heroes.
The second claim that Jeffrey Fleishman brings out is that anger has triggered energy and
power for a new wave of women. Fleishman argues that this anger imposed on Americans by our
Super Heroes has raised energy and power for women to complain. He says "From the game of
Thrones to Beyoncé's album" to mean this civil war year in the United States brought out a
remarkable year of angry women in televisions, in Pop Culture and Pop Music to frankly complain
without the fear of anyone. Their video games full of anger are filled with wars to portray a gun-
obsessed society, books written are full of wrath and on televisions, rage has become the new
romance for they have seized from words like "Catastrophe" to words like "You are the Worst" it
is really true that our Heroes in politics have messed with the joy of Americans, because our
fracture Pop Culture is offering plenty of Venom due to the civil wars. (Fleishman, Shadow Man)
Thirdly, Jeffrey Fleishman claims that angry was the word that defined the national
political mood in the Presidential year of Trump and Sanders. This is another claim that really
depicts that Political Heroes are the root cause of the venom produced by Americans. Jeffrey says
that, during that Presidential year, politics was driven by racial tensions, corruption, financial
crisis, terrorist attack, a wave of refugees, Britain's vote to exit from European Union and the
African American shooting of Bullets. This brought anger and tension everywhere in media until
their fellow politicians referred as Podcaster Dan Calvin spin out on rage, a thing which was
unusual and paradoxical. This was an indication that everyone was uncertified with the election or

political decisions. It is during this era, that many American movies and songs were about guns
and other songs were preaching peace and health anger, after the end of the elections, other films
came out filled with fury connecting the current political turmoil and the big short argument on
greed and hubris that caused a financial collapse in 2008. (Rainie)
The fourth claim that was brought out by Jeffrey is that the work of art is to make sense of
seminal times and bring out the light of what is going on in the society. Here Jeffrey is trying to
mean that if his arguments that the Super Hero civil war is the one that brought anger in America
were not true, then the Pop Culture could not have tabled the same idea out. He also argues that
Randolph asked why hadn't any artist written on the works of the crazy politician of New York.
Randolph was referring to Donald's Trump who had left people in dismay for exploiting public
and private financial institutions and therefore, he wanted the media to table him out. This
expressed Randolph's anger on Trump. Jeffrey also supports his idea by quoting a writer (Robert)
who staged a skit recently in America which was sending a message to Trump that, America has
become Addicts to anger whose minds like it and are used to it due to anger imposed to them all
the time.
The last claim that Fleishman gave in his essay is that America is partial to its politics and
it is generally like a resist who wore white socks with black shoes. This means that, together with
America being partial to its politics, a lot of racism and corruption goes on in politics among the
political leaders. All this lures anger to the citizens since the common citizens are partial with the
politics and the leaders are in return making them angry. According to Jeffrey, Archie was a time
when Pop Culture in America was distilled through Television channels, Radio Stations, Movie
Houses, Magazines and News Papers showing Romance Movies and Songs full of joy, but today
they show legions of blogs deep in stock of anger and with all this, we are still patriating with our

politics and showing a lot of tolerance to it. He also says that our sadness nowadays always cut
deep than our laughter, to mean political distress is affecting us emotionally more than any other
disaster. There are very few agreed pathways today that examine our misleading foibles and
prejudices. Therefore, our state is filled with fears and insecurity, and what is happening in our
social media is exactly what is happening in our State physically and Emotionally today.
(Fleishman, Promised Virgins)
In conclusion, it is now clear that Political Super Heroes' Civil Wars is the root cause of
anger in the United States of America, for we have seen how this has been torn out by graphic
designers, Critics, Historian, Writers, Artists and even Comedians. It is also enlightened that how
Donald's Trump is making America greater again is channeling the nations' anger because instead
of building it again, he is bringing it down through exploiting financial resources. But together
with all those claims I have discussed, some people may come up with objections that, Super
Heroes should not be blamed because politics is "Dirty" and all these things may be scams that
want to dirty the Super Heroes names. Also, other objections will come out that, it is not because
Pop Culture is always right that we should believe it, but it would sometime act other things out
of pressure from someone to pollute the state's politics and so, not all Pop Cultures are reliable.
