DEAF AND BLIND2
Deaf and Blind
Over the years, deaf and blind people have been associated with failure. However, the
myth of disability being inability is slowly fading away with more people with disabilities like
the deaf and blind standing up and being leaders in the society. Social groups, human rights
activists, and non-governmental organizations continue to work effortlessly to give hope,
support, and inspiration to the deaf and blind communities. They also lobby for these groups
inclusion in the society. The National Federation of the Blind and, the Deaf Resource Library
play important roles in the lives of the blind and deaf communities respectively.
According to the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), blindness does not define the
future of a person. NFB is a body that raises the expectations of the blind. They believe that low
expectations always create obstacles between blind people and their dreams. NFB argues that
blindness does not hold one back (National Federation of the Blind, 2018). They help the blind
people reach their potential and live the life they want.
The NFB has been on the forefront in helping the blind and people with low vision find
the resources, hope, and support they need to lead a normal life. NFB aims at promoting self-
confidence among the blind and people with low vision (National Federation of the Blind, 2018).
While encouraging high expectations among the blind, NFB gives the blind and people with low
vision a chance to exploit their potential and lead a full life. The NFB acts as a source of
inspiration to the blind and people with low vision.
The National Federation of the Blind through its website provides information on the
best ways to care and treat blind people. The array of data is meant for different audiences such
as employees, teachers, parents, the blind and those who are losing vision. Through NFB
