Making decisions is one of the most significant problems many of the individuals are suffering

from. When making a decision people base their decisions on different perspectives without

minding the consequences that might come along after they make the decision. When making a

decision its either you take the positive side by agreeing with the problem statement or disagree

with the problem statement. Making decisions are either you say a No or a Yes which comes

along consequences. In the paper below is one of the incidents when I found myself in a position

that I made a rational decision by saying Yes not considering No which could have been the best

answer.

After my high schools' studies, I was offered a job opportunity in a nearby company; I had

suffered for an extended period it being that I had spent a long time being jobless. I had the greed

of doing any job no matter what. I believed in myself that with all the problems I had gone

through any job opportunities not minding the profession that would come I thought I could

figure out on how to do it just after a short time being in the workplace.

I accepted the job offer I faked the documents and went for an interview, and luckily, I managed

to be called back to start working. On my first day, I was given some of the guidelines I was to

follow in the workplace which made me get convinced that I will manage. It was a business

management task. I was told to create a business plan where I managed to go through them on

the internet and drafted a business plan for the new project which the company was majoring in.

My employer was much pleased when he saw the business plan as it was perfect, and he even

told me that that was the best business plan ever.

I was forced to fit in the profession that I never knew what to do. However, it came a time when

I was supposed to present the business plan before the staff. The project was to be laid before the

other members of the team which later they could agree if the project was beneficial to the

company or not. I had googled the project, and I failed to understand that presentation of a

projects business plan is usually done with a different format including the literature review. I

went before the staff and courageously started presenting some of the facts I had goggled from

the internet then the boss was disappointed and gave me a look, I never included the literature

review which I knew nothing about.

When I finished, the manager went on to inform the crowd that the plan had not been

presentence ell and he was planning for another day for it to be presented fully. He suddenly took

me to the office. He was furious at me. He decided to have a look at my certifications. He noted

the certificates were fake they lacked signatures. He could not believe it. I just took it on a light

note as I knew he would suck me and then everything will be forgotten, not knowing he would

take me to the corps. I was arrested and taken to the courts where is served seven years in prison;

there then I knew that if I had given the offer a no, I could not have landed in such incidents.

Maybe my luck wasn't yet, but due to poor decision making, I failed and charged myself a more

severe punishment.

However, it's not only about the years I served in prison. I got shame in my personality as

everyone who was in the presentation knew that I had fake certificates. I appeared in the

televisions being referred to as a thief up to realize I have never landed any job as everyone

believes I am not trustworthy.

I ended up starting my business which has helped me get the finances to take care of myself and

my family. The incident also affected my business in that people could not trust me with the

products I sold; I had to do more and convince people that I had changed and gave them the

reasons why I had faked the certificate where slowly they started gaining courage in my

products. Through rash decision making, I was objected to the spoilt relationship with all the

employees that I could win. I was also at risk as everybody thought I could even engage in

stealing their properties in their homesteads and they no longer wanted me in their home.

I learned that being assertive in my all day’s activities could be of advantage as people could

trust me if I never cheated in my decisions. I lowered my self-esteem among my friends as they

could mock me of being a thief. Nobody even my mother trusted me when I came back from the

prisons. I never told my mother when I was going for the job that I had faked, and nobody ever

wanted to associate with me apart from my father who kept on giving me morale that it would be

well with time. I also lost the courage to apply for another job as I knew nobody would employ

me as the news had spread widely of a conman who was me.

After the incident, I learned that being honest is one of the things that will help you make the

right decisions. For instance, if I would have stayed calm and made the decision basing of

assertiveness, I wouldn't have gone through all the trauma I went through. I learned that

greediness is not the answer to all the problems all you have to do is to wait and work hard

towards achieving your legit dreams.
