The weekly prime minister Question answer session in the United Kingdom is a platform
where the minister responds to questions of different topics that affect the daily livelihoods of
people. Topics discussed in this session are how the UK government plans to step out of the
European Union and how they will fill that gap, how they plan on increasing funds allocated to
the police to enhance security, the issue of driving license and how to provide proper instructors
in driving schools. The prime minister also explains how the government plans to talk with
United Nations to end the air strikes affecting the lives of civilians ,how they want the domestic
violence to be inclusive before it is passed as a law, the issue of the passports color, the issue of
dementia, rehabilitation centers for people with brain injury, proper medication, law equality,
cancer treatments, issues related to fire, transport issues, creating more jobs and protecting
workers, immigration issues, the welfare of dogs and agricultural interests.
The topics discussed are quite relevant since they are related to issues affecting people. It
stirs a hot debate that is chaired by the speaker. Members can air their questions and opinions
freely and answer well by the prime minister that creates a very fair platform. The fact that the
debate is aired live on TV avails real-time information to the citizens and viewers across the
globe.
It would be such a great thing for the American democracy if this were done every week
for some reasons. One, the members of the parliament can question the government of various
issues, and two, it helps the citizens to be aware of what steps the government is making in

ensuring their problems are addressed. I would watch this since it helps me to be up to date with
the current issues affecting our country and educated on the possible solutions.
Having such unscripted debates between the governing party and the opposition party
would help the American government a lot. The members of the opposition will be able to
question the government on its key decisions thus keeping them on toes in whatever they do, by
so doing it increases the kind of democracy we have. This will also create a better relationship
between two parties which will enhance peace and harmony in the country.
Such a debate will help us create transparency in our government and rate their performance in
regards to the kind of services they offer to the people and how they spend the government
revenue. This will further make the voters decide if the ruling party should continue being in
power or vote them out further enhancing democracy amongst the American citizens.
From this video, we learn of the challenges facing the citizens. The prime minister's
questions are much similar to the problems we face here in America. For example, the issue of
insecurity, the recent mass shooting in a school is a perfect example of an insecurity case we face
here in America just as the United Kingdom. The British democracy is better than it is here in
America. The leaders are closer to the voters and continuously care about their welfare and
follow the government to the latter to ensure their demands are met. That's clearly what the
American government should emulate to enhance democracy amongst the people and the
government.
