Interview Response on Emotions in the Work Place
I managed to talk to a financial analysts about emotions in the workplace. Financial
analysts play a crucial role in forecasting trends, interact with other people and do in-depth
research. I aspire to be an investments banker, so the insight I go through my interview with
Dean Jones was both inspiring and informative. I managed to ask five main questions. They are;
1. What are emotions?
2. How do you detach emotions from interfering with your ability to make decisions?
3. What are your worst negative workplace emotions?
4. What are your best positive workplace emotions?
5. How do you deal with emotions in the workplace?
Through these questions, I managed to understand how emotions play a crucial role in a person’s
productivity.
Emotion is a feeling which is caused by being in association with the current situation in
which a person is in or the people surrounding them. Emotions are mostly intertwined with
temperament, mood, disposition, personality, and motivation. They represent states of feelings
that result in psychological and physical changes that affect a person’s behavior and the whole
decision making process. From the question of whether emotions affects a person’s ability to
make informed decisions, Jones claimed that they have an impact on one’s personality. Notably,
core tenets of an organization are its employees. When one behaves negatively, they portray the
company in a wrong way.
In response to his positive and negative emotions, Jones acknowledged that his core
positive emotions are happiness and love. During happy times, he feels more productive. His
negative emotions are anger, frustration, and nervousness. His insights about these emotions are
