Key Goals IGT Wanted To Achieve Using ERP System
Increased costs, as well as revenue pressures, are the main factors that affect the
operations of the airlines. The level of competition and skyrocketing fuel prices reduces the
profit margin of the firm. In addition, customers require technologies that will offer the best
services at the time of travel. For these reasons, airlines should adopt a mechanism that solves all
the problems during their operations and enhancing their efficiency through additional value
chain as well as accelerated growth. From the research, efficient implementation and effective
incorporation of ERP system can help in the advancement of operations, which lowers the
operational cost and leads to faster services in the company (Geralds, 2015).
The implementation of the ERP aims at satisfying the need of the customers. In this
regard, it helps in the identification of the gaps in the airlines and provides solutions to such
problems. For instance, it leads to the validation of the blueprint and set them in agreement with
the requirement of the customer (Jonson, 2016). Besides, one of the aims of ERP was to better
the traveling of passengers from one place to another. Historically, traveling domain has been in
operation for more than 15 years, which attracted new modes of operations. The emerging
technology was to ensure efficiency in the airline department and attract more customers. In
essence, this technique gathered more than 29000 ways of implementing SAP to enhance
efficiency in the traveling department. Finally, the aim of the airline in respect to the
implementation of IGT was to upgrade and maintain the infrastructure of the airline. It led to the
introduction of modern ways of operations (Geralds, 2015). In this case, airline department
registered high-profit margin because it led to proper accounting of both revenue and expenses in
the traveling department.

Pros and Cons of Customizing ERP System
Pros
Customization of ERP is the source of change in the organization. Usually, most of the
managers adopt new ways of performance through customization of ERP system in the
organization. In this case, it helps in the development of new software required in the efficiency
of operations. Secondly, the customization is important to adopt the new changes in the
environment (Jonson, 2016). Usually, environmental, technological changes require a periodic
upgrade to match the performance of other competitors. Therefore, customization of ERP system
is paramount for the performance of the organization.
Cons
Despite the advantages of customizing ERP system in the organization, the upgrades are
always complex, risky and costly to manage. The new software is complex to handle, and the
employees may need time to adapt to the new technology. Similarly, after upgrading the system,
maintenance becomes another problem because the company will have to undergo certain
expenses to maintain the new system (Geralds, 2015). In this regard, the firm is likely to make
losses as it adopts the new system. Likewise, the company will have to hire new employees to
manage the customized system in the organization.
How Should IGT Handle Change Management During ERP Implementation?
The main role of IGT in the implementation of ERP in traveling department is to
integrate systems like systems that related to both passengers and cargo revenue accounting.
Besides, other systems that require the use of IGT include management of crews, flight
operations, and access to all business information attendance and medical systems. Besides, IGT

also customizes the information related to Direct Operating Cost and Route Profitability
Calculations. Finally, IGT also plays an important role in the implementation of both SAP Portal
and Business Intelligence Solution in the traveling department to enhance efficiency. 
