ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION PROBLEM 3
makes the polar ice caps to melt. Precipitation occurs causing flooding, and the high
temperatures cause desertification (Dixon et al., 2013).
As population increases, the need to exploit more resources becomes critical.
Unfortunately, the reservoirs of the essential resources continue to reduce in supply with
increased human exploitation causing depletion (Tietenberg & Lewis, 2016). In such a case, the
inevitable problem is that even if people require resources, exhaustion is happening at a higher
rate compared to replacement. Globally, there is a strain to keep the environment at sustained
levels, but it is becoming more challenging day by day due to the lack of proportion between
what people require and its availability: this imbalance makes preservation a sincere concern.
From these problems among others, it is evident that environmental protection and safety
of the populace is becoming more of a challenge hence the need to intensify measures that can
adequately address the apparent concerns. In concurrence with Anderson (2015), a protected
environment provides a better place for the ecosystem and enhances sustainability, and any
adverse changes to it put the numerous species inhabiting the ecosystem in danger of decrease
and extinction. In the same way, protection means that humanity is also safe since the problems
such as pollution affect the quality of life due to food and resources contamination.
In summation, every creature requires a friendly and supportive habitat. Regarding that,
protection of the environment should be a priority irrespective of where a person lives. Being a
moral obligation to preserve nature and its different elements, it is unfortunate that there are
significant problems that make the process harder due to the levels they also reach as time
progresses. Among many concerns that people need to address sufficiently, the critical ones
include pollution, global warming, and depletion of resources.
