Leadership and Ethics
How do we elaborate ethical leadership? First, we draw the meaning of ethic which is the
standards, convictions, and qualities that define the correctness of a behavior, while leadership
can be defined as a process that directs or influences others to achieve the desired goal. Ethical
leadership is known as the demonstration of proper behavior through connections and individual
actions and the advancement of such conduct to subordinates through a linked communication
along with decision making(Evans & Chapman 2014).
Ethical leadership is divided into two elements. First, ethical leaders should act and
decide on decisions ethically, as should ethical individuals in general. But, secondly, ethical
leaders ought to likewise lead ethically including the ways that they treat people in daily
communication, within the ways that they empower, and within the directions within which they
direct their organizations or associations or activities(Stouten et al. 2012). There are two main
common main ethical theories namely philosophical theory and Deontological Theories
Deontological Theories
Based on deontological theories; despite the end result of an act is good, some acts are
continually wrong. In deontological theories actions are determined as ethical or unethical visible
of the action or the aim of the actor(Mayer et al. 2012). This theory offers focuses on the
execution itself. Deontological perspective stressed on duty where the implications are unrelated
to the action itself. An act is correct or wrong is decided by its qualities or characteristics instead
of its outcomes. Hence, in less complicated terms, deontological theories are very duty-based.

Teleological Theories
Teleological Theories specialize in the outcomes of an activity. Teleological ethical
theories look for ethical goodness within the consequences of our conduct and not the conduct
itself. The goodness of an action relies on the end result of this action. Based on this theory, all
rational human conducts are thought of teleological in the sense we have a tendency to measure
the methods of achieving an objective. Therefore, the teleological theory is incredibly goal
familiarized(Ştefan 2015).
4-V Model of ethical Leadership
For individuals who aim to become leaders so as to form a distinction, one should
embrace the inner core values of oneself and conjointly the outer commitment to the common
good (www.ethicalleadership.org, 2016). The 4-V is a framework that that connects both the
inner and external values for the advancement of ethical leadership. The 4-Vs of this framework
are Values, Vision, Voice and Virtue.
Values
Ethical Leadership starts with a comprehension of and responsibility for our individual
core values.
Vision
It is the capability to stipulate our activities while voice is the procedure of articulating
our vision to others in an exceedingly valid and persuasive approach.
Virtue
Virtue is cultivated by committing to virtuous behavior and perceive that we have a
tendency to are an example of what we have a tendency to apply.

ETHICAL LEADERSHIP 4
One business that galvanized me as an ethical mogul is Richard Branson. Richard
Branson has continually been a powerful advocate of ethical leadership. Richard Branson
practices in stakeholder management. In the year 2014, Richard Branson allowed the staff to
take unlimited in hopes of boosting their morale, productivity and creativeness; but, with the
condition that their absence won't have an effect on the business. Besides that, in the year 2015,
he discovered an inspiration for parents who worked for the corporate for four years and above
are entitled to a year of maternity leave with full remuneration pay. Judging from his actions, it’s
obvious that Richard Branson is an epitome of ethical leadership(Toor & Ofori 2009).
Other than that, Virgin group founded by Richard Branson has launched three non-profit
organizations specifically the virgin green Fund, Virgin Earth and Virgin green Fund(Eisenbeiss
2012). In year 2007, Virgin Earth came up with an inspiration to reward $27 million to the best
invention of a way to scale back greenhouse gases, subsequently improve the Earth’s climate.
“Train individuals to an adequate degree so that they will leave, treat them well enough so that
they don’t want to.” Richard Branson.
Conclusion
Using Virgin group as a model, it's evident that active ethical leadership goes a long way
because it builds trust, respect and a healthy climate inside an organization or organization that
subsequently results in the success.
