display them in the public domain. Hackers can also call a person with obscene names, harass someone,
carry out online attacks, and spread cruel and unpleasant rumors about an individual.
Besides the adolescent or child victims, the society as a whole is largely affected by
cyberbullying. The problem has resulted in several cases of teenage suicide attempts and successful
suicidal cases. When teenage victims die out of the effect of cyberbullying, the whole society is affected.
This comes out in terms of loss of young brains that can drive the economy and injection of grief and pain
to families of the teen who has died amongst other impacts. Therefore, several anti-bullying curriculums
have been formulated and implemented as additional parts of the curriculum used in public and private
schools. Additionally, all fifty states including Guam have reinforced at least one anti-bullying law. Most
of these laws also cover cyberstalking and all forms of illicit harassments on the internet. There are
several well-known cases of suicide caused by cyberbullying. Some of these include Ryan Halligan,
Megan Meier from MI, and Phoebe Prince from MA. This makes the process of eliminating aspects of
cyberbullying a necessary initiative in the current society.
Dealing with the problem of cyberbullying has proved to be a complicated process. There are
people who think that it is fun to be a victim of cyberbullying. To some extent, they laugh about the way
victims react to improper online attacks. There are also people who think that attention seekers who have
no love tend to seek it from elsewhere possible. They try and seek compensation using a legal process by
inventing bad stories about how they are neglected or abandoned. In the U.S, one out twenty cases of
cube bullying is associated children who seek attention from their parents or teachers. The Ryan Halligan
Case (1989 – 2003) is a good example of attention seeking cyber bullying. Hence, it is necessary to dig
into the social problems that propagate such cases.
