The main features that can be used to rate a film include theme relation and the relevance of
the topic. In addition, the ability of the film to entertain the viewers is much essential in
describing any film. This paper represents a personal interpretation of the film Room for One
More (1952).
The film is a production of Henry Blanke and was directed by Norman Taurog.
Released in 1952, Room for One More is a 98-minute comedy based on the book Room for
One More by Anna Perrott Rose. The film revolves around the theme of family love and
integration as it describes how a family adopted two children and the struggle to incorporate
the new members into the family. The film is worth viewing as it teaches a lesson of how
people can be helpful to the less fortunate.

Film’s Review
FILM INTERPRATION 3
The film illustrates the theme of integration; Anna’s family decides to adopt the
children from the orphanage despite the challenges that would result. Integration of different
characters poses a great challenge to many individuals. With great passion and compassion,
the family takes a bold step of embracing the adopted children in their family. The setbacks
experienced describe the challenges faced by the parents and children in adopting new
children in the family. However, the film director tries to inform viewer’s that with
determination such challenges can be downtrodden. Integration is, therefore, possible amidst
many obstacles.
Upon the integration, new talents are discovered in the new children. With acceptance
from the entire family, the adopted children try to open up and expose their ambitions. This
film is a teaching that the external environment plays a key role in modeling people’s
ambition and talent. It is, therefore, the role of the family to ensure that a favorable
environment is provided to children in order to develop their talents. The film also passes the
message that living in frustration and hostility can limit the person’s ability to exploit his/her
potential. In the film, for instance, Jane is found to be unhappy and therefore could not
envisage her brighter future. Upon being embraced by Anna and the family, she shines among
the other children in school.
In the film, parents show compassion and are able to tolerate the setbacks that result
from the adoption. Despite at some point considering giving up, they did not give up and they
later succeed in adopting the orphaned children. In this regard, it portrays the role of patience
and understanding to one another among family members.
