The basic needs that human beings need to access are health care and food. Children as
they grow they need a lot of care and energy for their bodybuilding processes. Most state laws
have indicated that children should be given nutritious food and should be treated when in need
of the doctors' attention. Reports indicate that most students in public schools go to school every
day without breakfast or without anything to take for the day. Most families have limited
resources, which in turn make them lack the basic food and markets; their low purchasing
powers limit the development of families and the growth of children. The paper aims at
explaining how a lack of nutritious food and limited health care can affect public school
performance.
The national standards in a balanced diet to the schools face a lot of challenges as the
plans may fail as the processes needed to be implemented may be hard, like, menu planning,
cooking procedures, food costs, and even the marketing strategies. Students are supposed to eat
low-calorie foods, which may help them in the body growths (Chung et al. 2016). Low-quality
foods have adverse effects, thus raising a serious issue with the authorities on the provision of
quality and nutritious meals. It has been noted that the health covers of the states do not cover the
students. The children mostly come from low-income families who are unable to cover the
children, thus becoming a problem to public schools as some students drop out due to the
minimal access to health centers. Health care and nutritious food go hand in hand as bodies have
to treated and healthy each moment.
Food issue has been on the rise for over a decade now, with children eating competitive
foods. The foods have the effect of low body mass as they do not provide the needed nutrients
for body developments. Such foods have led to obesity and decreased Body Mass Index. Obesity
has become a serious issue in most American schools as the risk of more students increasing

each day. Adolescents have been concentrating on taking caloric foods, and they do not exercise
much, and in the end, they become obese. Reports indicate that junk foods have lower nutritional
values which limit the absorption of the other nutritious quantities (Varcarolis, 2016). Using the
theory of behaviorism, most students behave according to the way the organisms do, and most
students do not care about their mental and body growth and at long run some internal
psychological process.
The health people 2020 has developed some of the activities to be done to improve on
food and health care to students. Many challenges that affect the children are always discussed in
the topic of access to health care. The challenges may be high costs, minimal services offered,
unavailability of competent care, and inadequate insurance covers. Public schools students come
from diversified communities and then delays in getting treatments may be recorded. When the
state fails to help the students get nutritious food, then the low-quality food leads to poor health
status and reducing the lifespan of most students.
Lack of health care in public schools has been negatively affected by the income status of
their families. It is proven that when a family affords all the basic needs, then children can afford
nutritious foods. The low-income limits the kids from accessing schools and other learning
institutions, thus affecting economic progress by a major proportion. Food and health care are
correlated as they depend on each other in schools. Most students prefer fast foods without
necessarily worrying about their health status.
The decisions made by most students tend to be in an ethical position. Some students eat
junk food, and they know the consequences, where all the decisions are based on self-interest.
Self-ethics are the normative ethical egoism activities which can always play the central role in
almost all the public schools. Most parents have convinced their children that fast foods are

cheaper and better to consume; the decisions are made solely and have adverse effects on health
care. Child health depends on the foods the child takes, promotion of child health depends on the
environment, and the specific foods made in the specified areas. Infectious diseases may
outbreak, thus exposing the children to many infections. The care of child health specifically has
to revolve around food and hence the need to address the challenges affecting the provision of
the two basic needs.
The concentration of the students in one location has taken a central role in nutritious
food provision and access to health care. Classical conditioning is the learning by association
where all students in public schools always request their parents to provide fast foods. The
negative effects of fast foods are that they have a high quantity of fats. Classical conditioning is
an aspect of human psychology, where students in public schools do the same things due to the
association in them together. The continued use of poor foods has changed the functioning of our
body systems and leading to lower health statuses.
Health care in public schools is never denied, but the increased number of office visits to
the hospitals has rendered the system inactive. Some of the students affected by the programs
may never access the health centers and end up becoming obese. Operant conditioning has been
on the application on this condition where the insurance companies do not insure students who
keep on consuming the junk foods and continue visiting the doctor. The insurance companies, at
times, increase the cost of premiums, thus making health care expensive and unavailable to the
students in public schools. The consequences are based on the behavior portrayed by the students
to the consumption of fast foods.
In conclusion, the fast foods consumed by the students affect the health care demanded
by the same students. In my experience, fast foods have led to obesity and other diseases caused

by high-fat quantities. The fats intakes lead to low body indices, which have limited balanced
body growth. The high consumption of fast foods has also made insurers to avoid investing in
the health sector. The income levels of the families have been a factor in fast food consumption.
Some parents advice their children to take fast foods because they cannot afford nutritious foods
for them; the foods, in reality, have adverse effects on the children's health. We can term fast
foods as poor food without the recommended nutrients. The poor foods have also led to lesser
health access in public schools filled up with young students.
