GOVERNMENTAL ACCOUNTING PROJECT 2
Governmental Accounting Project
1. Description abut California government.
In 1850, the union admitted the state of California into a working one. As of recent estimation,
the state has almost 40 million citizens. Its government has three divisions, the legislative,
judicial and executive powers. Also, it includes the attorney general, secretary of state, state
treasurer, lieutenant governor, insurance commissioner and the superintendent for public
instruction. For the executive branch, the officers there are elected for a maximum term of four
years. On the other hand, the law-making hand is the legislature with two houses, the senate and
assembly. For law making of the state, the judicial branch is responsible. For internal control of
governmental processes, the state contains a control agency which helps in regulating that. The
government is an all round one as it provides the citizens with human, social, and health services.
Among these services, education is not exceptional.
2. Projects government has spent funds on.
Basing on the current fiscal year, 2018-2019, which the governor of California released in
January 10
th
, the government assumes expansion of its economic sector. However, building the
state reserves became their priority with a projection of over $20 billion for consecutive years.
Education is also as priority to the state particularly for the k-12 schools and higher education.
Other factors considered include poverty in few areas and battling with the climate change for
the natural events. Increasing job opportunities, working on making the infrastructure to be
strengthened and ensuring debts and liabilities are paid were some of the incentives that were
considered in budget. Despite not mentioning health, it is a key element every government
invests in. Ensuring citizens receive quality health and services is what every nation ensures.
3. Diffence in audit opinion by the government with that of independt auditors.
