Group Situations Influence Conformity

Group Situations Influence Conformity
The environment plays a critical role in the performance of a learner. In most instances,
the learner’s ability to acquire new information is impacted on by the environment they live in.
Sometimes learners might not be totally unable to learn but their ability is often impacted by the
circumstances that befall them within and without the school environment. The analysis will
focus on the things that affect the performance of learners in a school environment. In essence,
the study focuses on the libraries, laboratories, classrooms and the teachers in the school.
Moreover, the environment may also be composed of your peers, the weather and the school
management. It is important to note, the recent poor performance in king Abdullah Academy in
the United States necessitated the need for this study. In order to get a clear analogy of the study
there was need to carry out a research on the factors that can be attributed to performance
change.
During the study, there was a desire to develop a range of variables that are credited for
the decline in performance. In fact, there was a further desire to determine which factor is more
responsible for the performance decline. In most cases, individual often associate the
environment to being a learners surrounding. However, studies have showed that things prior
thought to be harmless to the learner and his/her performances are proving otherwise. For
instance, according to a majority of the teachers adverse weather conditions whether extreme
cold or hot conditions have proven to carry a certain impact on the performance of learners in a
classroom. In this study, teachers were handed questionnaires and data collected on their
understanding of environmental factors that affect a learner’s ability to acquire information. In
fact, the data was collected and presented using the Rasch method. Critical to note, the numbers
presented reflected the true perception of teachers in King Abdulla School in the United States.
In essence the numbers are an actual indication of the various views carried by different teachers.
It is important to note, mood is clearly associated with behavioural patterns associated with the
learners. Also important to note, the data was collected from individuals who were neither in
prison nor in psychiatric facilities. Also key, the data collected would not been taken into
consideration if it were from minors.
Methodology
Data collection
During the study the data collected was in the form of a questionnaire that was filled by
all teachers in King Abdulla School in the USA. It is essential to note that the teachers had to
indicate the number of years they had taught and their views in the subject matter. Their views
would often range from agreeing to strongly agreeing to disagreeing and strongly disagreeing.
The teachers were requested to answer with at most honesty and according to what they had
observed. Also key to note, the data collected was strictly from teachers. This was in adherence
with the ethical standards set forth. It also reduced the workload that would be associated with
acquiring IRB approval. Critical to note, a compilation of the data collected was deemed
necessary. Teachers with similar results were racked up together. Essentially, this was for the
purpose of getting the variance of the divergent views carried by the teachers. Thought the
method of data collection was efficient I would still recommend for interviewing. This is perhaps
influenced by the personal nature it carries and the granting of a more comprehensive response
as compared to the use of the questionnaires.
Data analysis
After collecting the data on the effect of the environment on learners, there was particular
need to analyze the data in order to determine variability. In this study, the rasch model was
chosen as a means through which the data would be analysed. This was impacted by its ability to
analyze categorical data. The model is essentially compatible with our method of data collection
(questionnaire). The rasch model essentially highlights the probability of a response being
absolutely true. In our study, the method proved useful considering it was able to give a clear
picture of the accuracy of a response. In fact, the segment indicated for experience in the
questionnaire is particularly important considering according to rasch the accuracy of a response
is viewed as being relative to the experience an individual has in the field under study. The
method was also quite helpful since it measures responses and relays them in visual and easier
forms that can be easily understood.
