Guns on Campus
Burnett (right to carry guns on the campuses) presents the main argument that students
should be allowed to carry guns on the campuses. He supports this argument by using a couple of
facts. First, Burnett proves that gun free zones are not always the safe zone. He presents a
scenario where a mentally challenged student enters the school armed with two handguns having
400 rounds of ammunitions and kills 32 students. Second, by allowing guns in campuses was a
movement to help the defenseless students against unanticipated attacks. Finally, Burnett
believes that concealing carrying of weapons would work by controlling the gun holder's
manners on how he uses the gun.
On the other hand, Dickerson (students should not carry guns in campuses) say that it is
both illegal and reckless to permit guns in colleges. He supports his argument by citing that
permitting students to carry guns would lead to increased homicide and suicides. Dickerson
presents a study that attributes increased homicide to having guns in our homes. Second, he
supports his arguments by saying that increased recklessness in the shooting would be evident
where every student has been allowed to carry and use guns. He further says carrying of weapons
by students would increase the exposure of police injuries in the campuses.
I agree with Burnett’s point of view because the cost of allowing the student to carry guns
would outweigh the benefits. Reviewing the actions soundness, weak anger control capabilities
