Themes
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has some themes that catch the attention of the
viewers. The analysis paper will discuss some perseverance, lies and deceit purpose of the story
that the readers are expected to get. The themes in the story help connect parts of the film as
expected by the writer.
Perseverance Theme
The ability to keep going even when things seem rough is very vital in life. In the film,
Harry is willing to continue living his life at Hogwarts even though everyone suspects him of
being the heir of Slytherin. There are numerous people in the film who have the willingness to
endure hardships to achieve their evil intentions. For instance, Tom’s riddle to patiently wait for
months to gain control over Ginny Weasley, the twelve years the Dursleys spent trying to repress
the magic right out of Harry and they keep on making efforts even though they are aware it will
not work. In life, we are often told to persevere and keep trying because we will finally succeed.
Even so, we need to consider if the goals we want in life are attainable (Le Lievre 25)
Lies and Deceit Theme
The book contains some pretty examples of deceits. According to (Le Lievre 28) for
instance, Lucius tricks Ginny into communicating with the riddle’s diary belonging to Tom.
Also, Harry cheats Lucius so that he could manage to free his house-elf and the puzzle tricks

both Ginny and Harry into thinking that they are honest and an upright student. Also, on
examples of lies in the plot, when the professor asks Harry if he needs anything, he said no even
though he’s been hearing a murderous vice in the walls
Theme of principles
Also, the plot of the book portrays different scenarios of principles. Firstly, when Harry
went down into the chambers of secret, he proves that his principles include the aspect of
remaining loyal to his friends and the courage in the face of terrible odds. On the contrary for
Lucius, who is the most prominent pureblood in the book, slips and eleven-year-old girl under an
enchanted diary with a piece of Voldemort’s soul in it. Lucius wants the Ginny to be obsessed
and start the killing of Muggle-borns. That act would discredit all the efforts made by Mr.
Weasley to pass the Muggle Protection Act. He is willing to stoop to attack the daughter of his
political enemy to get his ways which portray lack of principles (Le Lievre 30)
Conclusion
The idea of tolerance in a society is fundamental in Harry Potter and the Chamber of
Secrets. The plot of the book explores the concepts of liberalism through Salazar intention to
eliminate the mud-bloods with non-magical ancestors obtained in Hogwarts. Also, in different
themes, the book teaches people the importance of facing life with the right attitude and have the
perseverance to achieve their goals.
