In Germany, when one is unemployed, young, or retired the healthcare coverage program
does not change, they are given all that is required when they get sick or need medical attention.
In the United States the when one is unemployed, the health insurance policy is terminated from
them hence making it hard for them access healthcare services other than directly paying for
them. Also, the children and the retired people do not have an insurance policy that covers their
healthcare services, especially those that are not included with Medicare and Medicaid.
According to Alley (2016)When a person is retired but not at the age of 65, they are not eligible
for Medicaid until they are above 65 which is very different in Germany where all the citizens
are under the insurance policy of health despite them being unemployed, retired, poor or young.
The healthcare systems of Germany and the United States have common policies and
differences at the same time. Germany has a well-grown economy in the world, and it has
classified its healthcare as a socialized system. The government of Germany does give healthcare
services to its citizens that are the young ones, poor, old, sick people, and those injured. The
socialized healthcare system was founded by chancellor Otto Von Bismarck that was to enable
the people got access to medical services when they needed them, and this was put into law as
sickness insurance act that would cover the social insurance program. The health care in the
United States is run by the private sector which owns some percentage and the government that
holds a smaller share as private health insurance and some deliver it through public health care
coverage that is Medicare and Medicaid.

When one needs specialized treatment in Germany, it starts from being referred from by
their physician that they need specific medical attention (Bode et al., 2017). Individuals can also
make appointments to see skilled doctors without consulting their doctors. But for the US mostly
this is done by individuals as the kind of treatment they can be offered on the amount of
insurance cover they got. Specialist in Germany does operate through public and private health
facilities, and one needs to use either the private insurance or the publicly funded system.
Germany, healthcare is funded through the socialization program that is run by the
government. Some people pay for their medical coverage through private health insurance but
are a smaller percentage. And this is the reason it is one of the universal health programs in the
world that takes full care of all its citizens. In the USA, all medical health care is provided
through insurance companies through Medicare programs that one gets to contribute fully for
medical expenses. There is government intervention through Medicaid that is in a smaller
percentage. The health system in the USA is not universal, and so many people get difficulty in
paying for their medical bills, especially the unemployed.
For the case of the USA, the patients take full responsibility in paying for medical
expenses through the Medicare program (Papanicolas et al., 2018). But for Germany, most of the
costs for all medical services are covered by the government despite their social and economic
status. And thus, this helps in the creation of equity when it comes to the provision of healthcare
services to its citizens. All people are allowed to join the Medicare insurance program regardless
of their income levels.
