Both authors indicate that state rights had been crushed by the North American
government for which includes the rights for protection to life, liberty and property in all of the
union. Constitutional rights have been ignored e.g. equality in representation, equality in the
rights of suffrage, equality in the honors and emoluments of office, equality in the social circle
and equality in the right of matrimony. This was clear when Mississippi presented 3 of their own
for the political seats but only for all of them to be rejected.
There are demands by the southerners (Mississippi and South Carolina) to be an
independent state and have all the powers as pertaining to any independent state of the world to
levy war, establish commerce, conclude peace, contract alliances and any other thing that
independent states do. They also demand that slavery should cease in all the US states. The
demand for equity for both black and white, equity in rights. The southern states claim that the
US demanded for the adoption of articles of union or the constitution of the United States which
had no black American representation. The rights clearly depicted by the authors are so loud on
the reasons of secession by the Deep South states. The denial of social, political and civil rights
was major reasons for the decision. Having had a major share in the formation of the
government, the southerners feel it’s unfair to be deprived of a political position (even just a
permanent minority status). The northerners continued humiliation to the southern states through
