‘I’m Nobody! Who are you?’, a poem written by Emily Dickinson, offers a
comprehensive expression about oneself and existence in the society. In this writing, the poet
tells the reader that she is nobody, and she goes further to ask if the reader is nobody too as
implicated in the quote, “I’m Nobody! Who are you? Are you – Nobody – too?” (Dickinson

sorrounding him; he notes, “what I assume you shall assume For every atom belonging to me
as good belongs to you” (Whitman 2-3). The poem shows that all human are united under a
common goal and share all have something in common.
