Innovation at Apple
The philosophy in consideration during the development of Apple products entail
uniqueness of their products. The fact that Jobs considered perfection of every detail of their
products ensured the firm’s ability to ensure uniqueness of their products through their sleek
designs in addition to the integration of the developments at the innovation stores (Thomke &
Feinberg, 2009). The core philosophy thus lies in the notion that simplicity is the ultimate
sophistication.
Other notable stores include the iPhone Apps store, iPad bookstore, and the iTunes
Music Store. The iTunes music store focuses on the provision of readily available and
inexpensive music that the user can easily customize the way they want to listen.
Additionally, the apps store provides a platform for the users to download a mobile
application that they deem necessary.
The foundation of Sir Timothy Berners-Lee in the development of World Wide Web
is the NeXTStep architecture developed by Jobs previously targeting the education market.
Other notable failed products developed by Apple include the set-top boxes designed for the
TVs and Apples personal digital assistant (PDA). The PDA experienced significant failure
due to the errors associated with its ability to analyse the handwritings.
Per the author, Apple Way implies to the set of rules aimed at guiding the
development of the Apple products and services through ensuring commitment and
establishment of efficient development and execution strategies (Thomke & Feinberg, 2009).
The platform strategy adopted by Apple entail secrecy regarding their operations that
are essential in ensuring competitive advantage.

According to Jobs, the source of innovation is the discussions between individuals
that take place randomly with the aim of enlightening the other members regarding the new
idea that a person has. Innovation arises from making an appropriate selection regarding the
discussed ideas on which is the most applicable hence should be adopted (Thomke &
Feinberg, 2009).
