INVENTORY CONTROL 2
Inventory Control
Various changes need to be conducted in Wheeled Coach. If I were the inventory control
manager, I would first have an ABC analysis of the inventory. Secondly, I would establish a very
tight physical control of the stockroom whereby it will only be accessed by authorized individuals.
Unauthorized people would not be able to access the premises whatsoever. (Tsolakis & Srai, 2017)
My physical control measures would entail things like high-quality door locks whereby only the
people authorized will have the keys to those doors. Also, enhance very harsh penalties and
punishments for the unauthorized individuals who access the stockroom. Besides, I would also
make use of a cycle counting system whereby I would ensure that the items that are not on the bill
of material are identified. This will go a long way in reducing fraud. (Pang at el, 2013)
I as the control manager would implement the above changes through various ways. To
begin with, I would have an effective management and leadership strategy to ensure that all these
policies are followed accordingly. My leadership would not accommodate for people who are not
willing to follow my instructions as stipulated. (Rafal at el, 2013) Secondly, I would train all my
hired cycle counters. This will go a long way to ensuring that they have the necessary skills
required to run their roles. Also, it will help them to understand the entire system and also the need
of maintaining an accurate inventory. Besides, I would establish a proper working environment
which is conducive for working and free from discrimination. This would act as a motivating factor
for my employees to work efficiently and effectively as it is required. It gives the employees a
sense of belonging of the company. (Hilmola, 2012)
