Jihad Terrorism by ISIS
The United States has in more than one occasion suffered in the hands of terrorists. It is
not uncommon for Jihadi terrorists to promote and practice acts of violence in the United States
to achieve some political goals. Since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World
Trade Center, the major national security concern of the United States has been to fight
terrorism, especially Jihadi terror. Jihadi terror can take many forms that include international,
group affiliated and love wolf. According to the FBI, the one that is currently posing the biggest
threat to the United States is international jihadi terrorism by the Islamic State of Iraq and ash-
Sham (ISIS). This paper will therefore discuss how ISIS is a threat to the security of the United
States.
The Islamic State of Iraq and ash-Sham has been named by the FBI to be the major
concern. It is in the top because its call for violence and aggression against innocent civilians is
relentless and ruthless. The group has been able to recruit more members because of their
convincing propaganda, media presence, large territories in Syria and Iraq, and networks and
branches in other countries. This group is a threat because it has been proven that it can inspire
and also organize direct attacks on its preferred targets anywhere in the world. The objective of
the United States is thus to deter jihadist terrorists from organizing large scale attacks on the
United States.
However, because of consistent counterterrorism operations against the group’s activities,
it has lost most of its territories in Syria and Iraq. These operations are gradually degrading the
strengths of ISIS therefore hindering its ability to take advantage of instability and social
