Introduction
Leadership strategy is an essential aspect of an organization, and it can be understood as
the process of using well-regarded procedures to communicate visions and objectives of the
organization. Strategic leadership is an aspect of planned procedures that typically motivates,
persuade, and manage staff members to share the objectives and vision that are essential creating
an organization structure or implementing change within the business. There are different sample
leadership strategies that need to be applied in business. The paper identifies two different
sample leadership strategies and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the identified
samples.
Sourcing leaders
Sourcing leaders is a sample leadership strategy that involves recruiting external skilled
personnel to fill the existing job positions in an organization. Hiring outside an organization as a
sample leadership strategy has some advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages of sourcing leaders
When there are sourcing leaders in an organization, the organization will open up its
business to a larger pool of different applicants, thus escalating the chances of getting the skillful
person for the job in the organization. Also, sourcing leaders as a sample leadership strategy
provides an opportunity for a bright appearance on the organization that a firm may require
staying competitive in the market. Sourcing leaders help in identifying fresh talents that will help
in motivating the current workers, thus playing an essential role in achieving the goals of the
organization and attaining the next promotional opportunities. Sourcing leaders permit an
organization to target the essential players that may achieve competition, thus opening up many

opportunities in getting experienced and skilled candidates in helping to diversify the
requirements of the organization (Driedonks & Weele, 2009).
Disadvantages of sourcing leaders
Sourcing leaders, as a sample leadership strategy, have some disadvantages. For example,
sourcing leaders can take a prolonged time and incur additional cost than taking within the
organization. Also, sourcing leaders can destroy employee morale since the current employees
may feel demoralized in getting the promotion, thus decreasing the productivity of the
employees. Sourcing leaders may take long-time in training the sourced leader, thus time-
consuming in making the outsourced leader understand the required skills required for the job
(Driedonks & Weele, 2009).
Rewarding leaders
Rewarding leaders is a second sample leadership strategy that needs to be adopted by
various organizations. Rewarding leaders have some advantages and disadvantages in an
organization.
Advantages of rewarding leaders
Rewarding employee is an essential aspect of an organization. When an employee is
rewarded, the employee’s morale is increased, thus making an extra effort to maintain the
rewards in each rewarding period. Other non-rewarded employees will also increase their
working tactics so that they can be rewarded just like their counterparts. Also, rewarding leaders
in an organization is an essential aspect since the organization gains advantage of identifying the
skillful leaders and motivating other leaders in performing their assigned duties (Cremer, et al.

2005). An organization that rewards their leaders attracts many skillful candidates since skillful
candidates appreciate organizations that identify their efforts in an organization.
Disadvantages of rewarding leaders
There is an increased business cost since the gifts, physical objects, physical cash, or cash
bonus must be used in rewarding the leaders. The rewards cut into the business profits, thus
reducing the profits of the organization. An increased rewarding of the leaders in an organization
largely cut down the profits of the organization. Thus, it will be hard for the organization to
realize the profits made each fiscal year. Also, rewarding leaders by the use of gifts or cash
bonuses may offer a temporary incentive, but over time, the advantages of these gifts and cash
bonuses begin to grow fainter. The sense of appreciation through rewards may fade within a few
months, especially when cash is provided as the reward since the employees may quickly spend
the cash. Rewarding leaders involve some aspects of bias because some organizations may
follow poor strategies in identifying leaders to be rewarded, thus lowering the morale of the
employees who were not identified during the rewarding period (Cremer, et al. 2005).
Conclusion
Based on the two sample leadership strategy, sourcing leaders and rewarding leadership,
it is, therefore, important for an organization to focus on the leadership strategies since the
leadership strategies are essential aspects for an organization to realize its goals.
