MANAGEMENT 2
The UA’s approach to innovation sounds interesting since it is the name of the game at
UA industry. For a company or industry gain a competitive advantage over its competitors then
they should embrace innovation. With refers to UA they embrace innovation to the product they
offer. It is through innovation UA was able to advance from a t-shirt startup to $1.4B Company,
which later developed, into a sportswear industry. Kelvin Plank who is the CEO and the founder
of UA embraced and created an environment that foster creativity and innovation and this is the
reason for such development. The founder and the CEO was aware of the sportswear and
understood the way forward for the industry. I do not see why you would not see this innovation
coming from a sportswear company (Robbins, & Coutler, 2013).
From the understanding of culture and innovation Amour’s culture and the empowering
leadership by the CEO and founder kelvin plank are correlated. The goals of Kelvin plank the
CEO and founder of UA industry was to create an environment that would produce the most
effective and efficient t-shirt for the athletes to use them during sport games. Through the effort
of the CEO and founder of UA industry employees are encouraged and appreciated for their
significant work they do. It is through the efforts of the employees that allow the athletes to
perform and have advantage they need to perform excellently. UA’s culture is one that embraces
creativity and experimentation (Robbins, & Coutler, 2013).
According to Robbins, & Coutler, (2013), design thinking is a style by its own, which
generally considers the ability to equate empathy for the context of a problem, creativity in the
generation of insights and solutions and rationality to analyze and fit solutions to the context. In
my understanding the design thinking will definitely help UA as an industry to improve
innovation because it embrace evaluation of problems and create a solution and keep the
Company competitive.
