Responses: Family Violence across the Lifespan
Question 1: Personal Thoughts
Based on the chapter, I concur with the idea that emotional abuse among children is facilitated
by actions of the offender. In such a case, a child is likely to feel inferior or less significant
influenced by the demeanor of an older person. Similarly, if a kid is frequently exposed to
violence, he or she will have higher chances of developing risky behaviors on growing up; for
example, men beating their wives may demonstrate this behavior as a consequence of the past
gruesome experience. Besides, most children are victims of physical abuse due to unreasonable
care given to them by parents or caregivers, which can lead to molesting or sexual abuses.
Furthermore, negligence is largely demonstrated due to the increased instances of child abuse
from inadequacy of basic needs and parental supervision.
Question 2: Important Information for Me
The chapter shows that it is important to consider the manner in which one handles the child to
enhance his or her emotions. As well, the behavior of a grown-up directly impacts on the
childhood conducts or environment, especially when violent parents or adults are more likely to
have been raised in such situations during childhood. Furthermore, both parents and guardians
have indicated little focus on the provision of basic needs for a child, which enhances neglect at
an early age.
Question 3: Importance for the Society
