NASA MISSION TO MARS
Introduction
NASA is developing the capabilities that are needed to send the scientists (human) to the
asteroid by 2030. The NASA goals are outlined in the bipartisan NASA Act (2010) and the
United States. Mars according to NASA is a rich destination for the scientists, robotics, and
human exploration as they plan to expand their presence into the solar system. The Mars is
believed to be having similar characteristics to earth, and the scientists have earlier indicated that
the planet can support human life and thus NASA is working on it to have other people move to
the planet. The formation mars is comparable to that of earth, and thus it helps us to know more
about the history of our planet and its future. The NASA believe that future exploration that they
are planning to undertake could provide evidence of life. This will provide the answer the
fundamental questions: is there life beyond earth?
NASA mission to Mars is a project that has been in existence for long. Many explorers
and researchers have embarked on many projects and researchers with the aim of establishing
whether Mars can accommodate life. Though there has been positive feedback, it has not yet
been determined on whether mars can accommodate growth. One of the best-known projects
affiliated with the Mars exploration is NASA mission. The project focuses on moving the human
beings to Mars. The founders of the project believe that it’s possible to move a person and make
them settle on Mars. However, the proposal has attracted heated debate globally. Many persons
view the project as a waste of time and inapplicable in today’s world. They consider the high
population rise on earth could end up increasing the competition for resources like water and
space hence they view the mars project as a possible alternative to control such a scenario. The
result has been increased confusion about NASA mission.

NASA MISSION TO MARS
In my view, the NASA mission is wrong and should be discouraged. Based on social,
economic and logical evidence the project is unattainable and will lead to more wastage of
resources. Given the fact that the project was initiated with the aim of proving the superpower
between the Russia and USA their agreement and will to resolve the differences makes the
project lack financers. Taking into account the high amount of funding the project requires the
lack of chief financers makes the project almost unattainable.
In support of my argument, I have presented five more points that I believe will act to
open up the eyes of the researchers and explorers and end the confusion that surrounds the
project. In the presentation of my arguments, I have put into consideration the physical,
economic and social factors to explain why the project can’t get conduct. The five proposals are
cost, physical challenge, planet protection, nature of mars and religious view. The five views will
be necessary for the scholars, researchers and all persons who are interested in NASA mission.
The arguments will form in-depth evidence that will show reasons to why the project should get
stopped at the moment. It will be important in the eradication of the confusion that has existed as
well as prevent wastage of funds in an unworthy task. The advantage of the paper it will help the
bright brain engage in the worthwhile project. It will help the earth occupants have sober minds.
Besides, it will prevent loss of time and money in the less critical project.
Cost
The project is a failure taking into account the cost attached to moving the human beings
from earth to Mars; it is estimated that the value of the travel is more than 500billion USA
dollars. The high cost would discourage the ordinary human beings from traveling. The low
number of persons traveling would make the settlers of mars suffer as they would be separated
from their loved ones. In addition, the high cost makes the whole project unsuitable and unreal as
4
NASA MISSION TO MARS
no nation would risk such amount of fund to transport just a few of its citizens. Given the high
cost, it makes the project unsuitable economically as any state that would support it would end
up suffering long-term financial crisis. Globally there can never be any cooperation or country
that would risk such amount. Instead of transporting the human beings the over $500 billion
USA dollars could be used to make the life of the citizens better. The sending of the people to
mars was an idea that arouses the differences between the USA and Russia. However, as the two
superpowers is in terms now there lack the source of funds. It makes the project unpractical
(Hoffman, 1997). Also, its project that the mars condition needs high investment to enable
persons to survive. That is the terrains, and the climate makes life so expensive which would
make the settlers suffer more. No one would be willing to move from earth to settle in areas
where he is prone to suffer. The unwillingness of people to travel would make the mission lack
meaning.
Physical challenge
Mars consists of regolith minerals, dust and rock with no organic matter such condition
cannot allow settling or growth of any plants. Besides the area have thin and cold air which is not
capable of holding the rainfall. This situation makes the whole planet appear desert which is
unsuitable for humankind settlement as large numbers of earth occupants are farmers.
Life on Mars is unbearable given the type of rays (cosmic rays) and radiation (ionizing
radiation). The persons who would travel to Mars would face serious radiation risk as shown
through various experiments done at mars science laboratory. Also, there are negative
environmental factors discouraged the settling in the plane. The nature of the light in the Mars
would cause persons to have eye defects. Also, the occupants would face psychological torture
due to lack of community. Human beings are social beings, and disconnection persons from their
5

loved ones would result in stress built up among the Mars settlers. Also, the lack of essential
facilities like hospitals in mars would make life unbearable (Oberg, 2017). It would also take
time before the Mars is ready for occupancy as almost everything could get exported to the
continents. The dependency of mars on nearly everything makes the mission failure. Given the
distance between earth and Mars then we can conclude it’s impossible to have persons settle on
Mars.
Planetary protection
Given the nature of mars, the robots need to get sterilized as any contact with such
elements like water may interfere with the experiment. It is impossible hence it makes the
analysis a risk. It’s almost impossible to conduct such a thing given the fact that the earth
contains billions of microorganisms. Also, the explorers would become a threat if they carry
microbe with them from mars. They would perhaps lead to new diseases and infection (Malin,
2001).
Religious view
According to Christianity God created everything in order and placed each thing where it
best fits. According to the biblical teaching human beings were put on earth where they were
given authority to control it. Moving the persons to Mars is wrong and would never be accepted
as it is against God’s will. And God is the controller of the earth would perhaps get sad and kill
the entire population on Mars. Such views make the NASA mission unpopular and hard to adapt
as Christians. The move would face a significant challenge taking into account the high number
of Christians globally. The dominance of Christians and Muslims on earth would make the
project failure. No person would be willing to go against the will of God as it could result in
wrath. In actual sense going against the will of God would make the occupants of mars get
6

abandon by God. The result would get increased in suffering and death (Rummel, 2001).Besides
mars being a separate continent from earth lacks or falls away from the religious teaching that is
on laws and principles governing life. The attribute makes it almost impossible to have
experience on Mars God being the Controller cannot agree to have persons away from their area
of interest. Settling in mars would be seen as a similar to Adam feeding on the forbidden fruits
and would attract similar wrath.
Nature of mars
Mars is believed to have a deficiency of oxygen and other essential gases like carbon
dioxide. Lack of these crucial gases makes the settling of persons in mars impossible on the basis
that human being needs oxygen for gases exchange while plants need Carbon dioxide for
photosynthesis. Lack of the two gases makes the life impossible in planet Mars as there will be
nothing to be fed by the human being. Besides most human-related activities depends solely on
the two gases hence lack of them will result in lack of basic needs that depend on the gases.
Artificial production of the two gases is impossible. It makes the whole project failure as there
can never be ant nonstop gas producer enough to cover Mars (Kieffer, 1977).
Conclusion
The mission to Mars in my view and understanding is, however, a waste of time, money and
risking the lives of human beings. NASA's believe that there is a deficiency of oxygen in Mars
shows that no human being can survive on the planet. Human and all other living organisms
requires plenty of oxygen to survive. Currently, the space explores have been carrying their
oxygen while in the mission to make them alive. The United States should not carry the mission
since it requires a lot of money and the mission of moving to the mars for settlement cannot work
due to oxygen deficiency. The United States should use the funds in helping the poor in the

society than spending on a mission that would never benefit the residents and the entire world.
The NASA also in a religious view are trying to go against the creation of God. God created
everything and choose to make the earth the home of all living organisms including plants hence
humanity should follow the suit and avoid trying to imitate the Gods creation.
