NATURE VERSUS NURTURE 2
Nature and Nurture influence human behavior
Introduction
The debate about nature versus nurture focuses on the comparative significance of a
human being’s inborn character traits, and the individual acquired behavior through nurtured
experiences. Human behavior is influenced by both nature through the genetic composition that
vary from one person to another, and behaviorism, which result from environmental factors.
According to Galton (2008), both heredity and environment have great influence on the
human beings’ social advancement. Human beings traits vary because of the inherited genes
from the parents, which results leads to the difference in the traits like intelligence. The genetic
composition of human being is reproduced in the consecutive generations, which make people of
the same generation behave in a similar way. When the biological structure of a person is
tampered with, it may result in behavior change. For example, if an individual has a brain injury,
the person’s demeanor changes from polite to aggressive.
Manipulation of certain genes in a human being results in behavior change. In a recent
study by Bulmer (2003), genes have been activated to manipulate traits, which adversely affect
the behavior. There is a correlation between traits and behavior. Certain traits are observed
because of the genetic composition, which result to the difference in behavior. This means
behaviors are influenced by traits, and traits are affected by certain composition of several genes.
The explanation of how nature influences behavior has been advanced to entail influences on
development, which result from prenatal and parental experiences.
The key diversity between the impact of genes and environmental factors can be
observed in population variance. The focus from an individual to population sample underscores
the fatal difference between nature and nurture. The environment influences a person’s
