NEUROSCIENCE OF ENGAGEMENT 2
Neuroscience of Engagement
Neuroscience of engagement deals with how the brain impacts the choice and
decisions of employees thereby affecting their performance in an organization either
positively or negatively. Therefore, key features such as levels of engagement, how these
engagements affect employees and the threats circuitry will be addressed in this paper.
Levels of Engagement
Basically, Neuroscience of engagement has been categorized into three main levels.
These levels include neutral engagement which is also regarded as the resting state of the
brain such that, the brain of the individual is not active (Tang et al., 2015). On the other hand,
deep engagement usually occurs as a result of reward. For instance, when a bank cashier
receives a promotion letter it would lead to a deep engagement. Disengagement on the other
hand, encompasses negative feelings such as fear.
Impact of Engagement on Employees Performance
Virtually, there may not be an overall engagement of employees to the certain task at
the workplace (Tang et al., 2015). However, I do not agree with this statement since some
staffs tends to engage themselves in a myriad of tasks. For example, the article highlights that
an employee in a bank does not like to deal with paperwork or the boss, however, there some
employees who can interact with both parties.
