management is the directing behavior of leading as well as organizing the actions of a group or
team of individuals towards a mutual objective.
In the course of the interview, the nurse outlined the type of leadership that he uses as a
nurse, like transformational leadership. He explained Transformational leadership as an essential
component in the establishment of a nursing setting that attains Magnet designation. The style of
Transformational leadership is characterized by forming incentives as well as affiliations
amongst the staff members. Leaders who practice Transformational style of leadership usually
stimulate respect for and from staff, assurance, and dependability are communicated over a
shared vision, that results in improved productivity, strengthen the morale of workers, and job
satisfaction (Özbağ, 2016). Where the leader has profound internal value as well as ideas,
followers are motivated by transformational leadership by appealing to higher beliefs as well as
moral values. This makes supporter’s act to sustain the greater good, instead of their well-being,
and have environments that are supportive where accountability is shared.
Techniques used by the Transformational leader to empower their staff/colleagues
Provide staffs generous boundaries - Unlike conventional wisdom; barriers do not limit
members of a team; instead they are empowered. It is essential to explain the limitations in

which a member of staff can make his or her judgments (Hutchinson & Jackson, 2013). This will
give them the freedom to act. Let's say, if a person let a customer service agent spend up to
twenty percent of the annual fees of a customer on keeping that client contented, the person

Listen intently. Numerous bosses try manipulating staffs to say what they need to hear.
For instance; they tell them, "Tell me that we must hit our sales objective." It is not the right
procedure. It is much sense to pay attention carefully to the truth and later adjust the actions in
response to that fact.
Leaders should trust their employees. Great leaders get outstanding performance from
ordinary individuals. Discover what every individual does best. Look for improved methods for
individuals to support each other. To encourage and support one another, they should bring
individuals together. Then have faith in in the collaborations and partnerships.
Pardon mistakes. If a group does not make mistakes, then as a leader, you are not
reaching high enough. However, if errors are punished, overly-conservative behavior will be
encouraged. Create evident variances between mission-critical offenses and acceptable mistakes.
For instance: It is alright to examine a new technique of advertising and find out whether it will
work; it is on no occasion alright to involve in deceptive or false advertising.
Offer growth paths for everything in life, comprising of individuals and changes. If

Characteristics of a Transformational leader

and lead as an example to others to follow. Regardless of how the leader is defined, he or she can
make the difference between success and failure (Huczynski, Buchanan & Huczynski, 2013). A
leader who is known to be useful has innovative dreams and understands the way to convert his
notions into actual accomplishment stories. A leader must possess these characters:

1. Honesty and Integrity- in defining a good leader, Honesty, and Integrity must be two of
the essential ingredients that make a leader. Leaders thrive the moment they stick to their
principals and beliefs. A leader cannot succeed without ethics
2. Confidence A leader must be confident in what he or she believes in so that others can
follow the commands. If a leader is not optimistic about his or her decisions and qualities,
the staffs will not follow him or her. Since you are a leader, you need to have an
overflow of ideas and confidence, demonstrate some aggressiveness to attain the
reverence of your juniors. However, this should not be a guarantee to you to be
overconfident, but a leader should at best replicate the notch of sureness needed to make
sure that the juniors have trust in you as a leader.
3. Inspire Others the actions of a leader should motivate others to have more dreams,
no more, work extra hard, and grow more. Succeeding to motivate the juniors means that
you can certainly manage any existing and forthcoming encounter.
4. Excellent Communicator to achieve a positive outcome, a leader needs to
communicate to his or her juniors on the visions and the strategy to attain the goals.
If there is a lack of communication between a leader and the subordinates, the results will
not be pleasing. If one fails in conversation, is therefore not regarded to be a good leader.
An outstanding communicator can make a good leader. There is power in Words that can

subordinate is held responsible for every activity they are taking.
Type of power used by a Transformational
Legitimate Power
Legitimate authority is a traditional authority. It is the form of control an executive,
director, or a different official that is leading in business has because of the status of their
position.
Information Authority
Leaders acquire information influence once they understand something different
individuals need to understand (Hutchinson & Jackson, 2013). These facts could be anything like
obscure facts about a company or person.
Expert Authority
Individuals who have more experience or knowledge compared to other team
participants, they show expert power. Such as, an executive having twenty years of know-how in
their field has expert control over fresh school graduates who are just beginning their line of
business.
Charismatic Authority

Charismatic leaders are capable of influencing other people. Even though they possibly
will or will not have a network of contacts that is established, they generally have a natural
capacity of inspiring or persuading other people.
Moral Authority
A leader with moral influence over the staffs and shows ethical governance is placed on a
pedestal because of their actions and beliefs. The good qualities of a leader can bring about
having moral authority over the workers, for the reason that the worker might be encouraged to
imitate the actions of their leader.
In conclusion, a nurse requires leadership skills to execute the duties given to them by the
seniors. Due to the practice and the skills nurses hold, they can able to make a decision and
perform a responsibility to their patient appropriately without consulting their seniors. A nurse
must be an accountable person can realize mistakes and quickly work towards its rectification.
